2025 Volvo EX90 and Volvo XC90 facelift launched in Malaysia, priced from RM 418,888

Less than a month after bookings were opened, Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has just launched the new 2025 Volvo EX90 and 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift.

Prices start from RM 442,888 for the 2025 Volvo EX90, while the 2025 Volve XC90 facelift is priced from RM 434,888 for the Ultra T8 variant, while the mild hybrid Ultra B5 is priced from RM 418,888. All prices are on-the-road, without insurance.

Starting with the 2025 Volvo EX90, this flagship 7-seater SUV is a pure EV, powered by a massive 111-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack that powers two electric motors for a combined output of 380 kW (517 PS) and 910 Nm, allowing for a 590 km range under the WLTP test cycle.

The 2025 Volvo EX90 supports up to 11 kW AC charging, while DC fast charging goes up to 250 kW. At 250 kW, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% state of charge (Soc) in about 30 minutes.

For Malaysia, the EX90 comes with a laminated panoramic sunroof, Pilot Assist with adaptive cruise control, 360-degree camera with 3D view, powered tailgate and folding third-row seats, and four-zone climate control. The Ultra trim for the local market includes active chassis with air suspension, first-row seat massage and power side bolsters, power release and soft-close doors, 21-inch eight-spoke Aero wheels, and laminated side and rear windows.

The 2025 Volvo EX90 is also the first Volvo to feature a LiDAR sensor that works together with cameras and sensors that are ready for fully autonomous driving. That said, while the hardware is already fitted to the car, actual activation of fully autonomous driving is dependent on local laws and regulations.

The Malaysian-spec EX90 will be offered in four colours – Onyx Black, Crystal White, Vapour Grey, and a new Sand Dune colourway – whereas customers can choose between Charcoal or Cardamom interiors and Nordico upholstery paired with FSC-certified natural Birch Wood décor.

As for the updated 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift, the T8 AWD variant continues to feature a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, albeit detuned to 310 PS and 400 Nm, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and features an electric motor mounted at the rear.

The electric motor is powered by an 18.8-kWh battery pack, enabling the electric motor to output 107 kW (145 PS) and 309 Nm. Combined system output is 455 PS and 709 Nm (marginally lower than the pre-updated model’s 462 PS output).

Being a PHEV means that the 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift can be charged when needed. That said, the XC90 only features AC charging, up to 7 kW. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours.

Volvo Car Malaysia is also offering the XC90 facelift with the B5 PHEV powertrain, which gets a similar turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that does 263 PS and 390 Nm.

Standard equipment on the 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift (both T8 and B5 variants) includes a 11.2-inch centre display, 12.3-inch driver display and a head-up display, next-generation Pilot Assist with adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity audio, powered and ventilated front seats with memory function and four-way lumbar support, panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade, and four-zone climate control.

Four colours will be offered for the new model year – Onyx Black, Denim Blue, Crystal White, and Vapour Grey – all paired with a Charcoal interior, Charcoal ventilated Nappa leather upholstery, and Grey Ash wood décor.

Sand Dune is a new colour for VCM

Currently, the 2025 Volvo EX90 is imported (CBU) from China; plans to locally assemble (CKD) the model is in the pipeline. As before, the XC90 is locally assembled at Volvo Car Malaysia’s plant in Shah Alam.
