Improved Proton eMas 7 Long Range soon? Bigger 68.39-kWh battery for Galaxy E5 with 610 km CLTC range

According to a filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Geely is preparing to debut an updated Galaxy E5, now equipped with a larger 68.39-kWh battery pack. This marks a notable 15% increase over the current 60.22-kWh unit—the same battery that powers the Malaysian-spec Proton eMAS 7, particularly the Premium variant (priced from RM119,800).

More Range from a Bigger Battery

With the new 68.39-kWh battery, the Galaxy E5 is expected to deliver an extended range. Currently, the 60.22-kWh battery enables a driving range of up to 530 km based on the CLTC test cycle.

For Malaysian buyers, the same battery in the Proton eMAS 7 provides a WLTP-rated range of 410 km. A 15% increase in battery capacity could theoretically push that number closer to 470 km, though the final figure may vary depending on the added weight of the larger battery pack.

Performance Remains Familiar

Per the report by CarNewsChina, aside from the upgraded battery, the rest of the drivetrain remains unchanged. The updated Geely Galaxy E5 continues to feature a front-mounted electric motor, producing 160 kW (218 PS) and 320 Nm of torque — identical to what’s found in the Proton eMAS 7.

At the time of writing, Geely has yet to reveal fast-charging specifications or other technical updates for the refreshed model, though further details are expected closer to its official launch later this year.
