Subaru enthusiasts rejoice – Motor Image Malaysia, the official distributor of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia, has opened bookings for the all-new 2025 Subaru Forester. The new C-segment SUV, codenamed SL, was previously spotted on a trailer more than a month ago.
According to the ROI page, Motor Image Malaysia will be offering the sixth-generation 2025 Subaru Forester with a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre petrol engine – the largest engine fitted to a non-XT Forester (the SH-generation XT offered a turbocharged 2.5L). The engine, codenamed FB25, produces 185 PS and 247 Nm of torque, paired with Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT, similar to the Indonesian-spec model.
Power is sent to all four wheels via Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system with Dual X-Mode.

While the 2025 Subaru Forester continues to be built on the Subaru Global Platform (SGP) as the SK-generation model, body rigidity has been improved by 10% and torsional rigidity by 30%, enhancing ride comfort and reducing cabin noise. Ground clearance remains at 220 mm, consistent with earlier Forester models.
Safety equipment sees an upgrade as well. The EyeSight 4.0 ADAS suite, which debuted on the SK-generation Forester, will be included on the new SL-generation model. It now features an additional monocular camera to widen its detection range. Airbag count has also been increased — the SK-generation raised the number from 7 to 8 airbags with the inclusion of a passenger cushion airbag, a feature expected to continue here.
Other standard features expected for the Malaysian-spec 2025 Subaru Forester include a 360-degree camera system, wireless charging pad, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a kick-sensor hands-free power tailgate. Units spotted also showed 18-inch alloy wheels.
With the model set to be imported (CBU) from Japan, pricing may not be as competitive as the outgoing SK-generation Forester. For reference, the similarly equipped Indonesian-spec model is priced at IDR 735.5 million (around RM 186k). A circa-RM 200k price tag is likely when the 2025 Subaru Forester officially goes on sale in Malaysia.
