Tan Chong Motor Holdings (TCMH) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd to provide services for Perodua’s upcoming EV, which could be called QV-E.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Tan Chong stated that the agreement with Perodua is effective on 13-November 2025.
Per the filing, Tan Chong Motor Assemblies Sdn Bhd (TCMA) will provide electro dipping coating and painting line services, as well as rental and use of certain designated assembly services to Perodua.
TCMH stated that the rationale for this LOI is for them to optimise the existing assembly plant capacity to enhance operational efficiency and maximise asset utilisation, as well as expanding TCMH’s participation in Malaysia’s EV segment.

What do I need to know about the Perodua QV-E?
The Perodua QV-E is set to be Malaysia’s first homegrown EV, developed by Perodua from the ground-up.
According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Perodua QV-E is an important national agenda, as it is in line with the Madani government’s efforts to strengthen governance, social responsibility, and protection of the environment.
“I am very impressed because this launch brings benefits to the people and the country, and at the same time it fulfils the MADANI concept.
“In a short time, maybe more than two weeks, I will be present again to make the launch of Perodua this time an important national program. I give a guarantee for now,” he told Astro Awani.
