Seiko unveils new Seiko Prospex Speedtimer lineup with Datsun 240Z collaboration

Seiko is celebrating a key era in its motorsport heritage with a new collection of its Seiko Prospex Speedtimer models, including three limited-edition watches inspired by the iconic Datsun 240Z rally car. The releases pay tribute to the late 1960s and early 1970s, a period when both Seiko and Datsun pushed boundaries in timing precision and motorsport engineering

The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer name traces back to 1969, when Seiko introduced the world’s first automatic chronograph featuring both a vertical clutch and a column wheel. In the same year, the Datsun 240Z debuted and quickly became a motorsport favourite, famously winning the gruelling 6,200 km East-African Safari Rally in 1971 with the Seiko logo proudly displayed on its No. 11 race car.

Fast-forward to today, Seiko brings the spirit of that era back with three collaboration models and three additional Prospex Speedtimer models joining the main Prospex line-up.

Limited Edition: Datsun 240Z collaboration models

Seiko has introduced three special-edition watches that carry the design spirit of the Datsun 240Z, featuring red-and-black tones and different interpretations of the original Datsun logos.

SPB517 — Mechanical (Caliber 6R55)

SRQ057 — Mechanical Chronograph (Caliber 8R48)

SSC957 — Solar Chronograph (Caliber V192)

All three watches feature Arabic numerals inspired by the Datsun 240Z’s instrument cluster.

New additions to the Prospex Speedtimer series

Alongside the Datsun collaboration, Seiko has also expanded the main Prospex Speedtimer lineup with three new models: two mechanical pieces powered by Caliber 6R55 and one mechanical chronograph powered by Caliber 8R48.

SPB513 & SPB515 — Mechanical (Caliber 6R55)

SPB517 — Mechanical (Caliber 6R55, Datsun Limited Edition)

SRQ055 — Mechanical Chronograph (Caliber 8R48)

These models inherit many styling cues from the 1972 Speedtimer chronograph, including a streamlined case and a multi-row bracelet for better wrist comfort.

The collaboration models are now available at Seiko boutiques and selected retailers.
