2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ launched in Thailand, from THB 1,289,000, Malaysia debut soon?

Toyota Motor Thailand has officially launched the 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, the newest addition to the Land Cruiser family. Unveiled on 21-March 2026 at Toyota Alive Bangna, the 2026 Land Cruiser FJ is a ladder frame off-road SUV built on the IMV platform, the same underpinning shared with the Hilux Champ, Hilux, and Fortuner.

Overview

The 2026 Land Cruiser FJ will be manufactured at Toyota’s Ban Pho plant in Thailand with a local content rate of 84%. Toyota plans to export more than 40,000 units annually to 60 countries, including Japan.

The Land Cruiser FJ is offered in one variant that gets a part-time 4WD system. It is priced at THB 1,289,000 (approximately RM 153,000), with a special launch price of THB 1,269,000 (approximately RM151,000) available until August 2026.

Exterior

The 2026 Land Cruiser FJ’s design is built around the “Playful Dice” concept: a boxy silhouette with chamfered edges and short overhangs. LED projector headlamps with daytime running lights flank a rectangular grille, while LED rear combination lamps and LED fog lights at the rear. A tailgate-mounted spare tyre with wheel cover sits at the back, accompanied by a side-opening tailgate.

Front and rear bumpers are 3-piece modular units, designed for easy individual section replacement to reduce repair costs and support customisation, mirroring the Hilux Champ. Rugged wheel arch cladding frames the 18-inch black alloy wheels, which are wrapped in 265/60R18 tyres. Side body mouldings are fitted as standard for scratch protection. The Land Cruiser FJ measures 4,610mm long, 1,855mm wide, and 1,890mm tall, on a 2,580mm wheelbase, making it noticeably physically smaller than the Fortuner.

Three colours are offered: Smoky Blue, Platinum White Pearl Mica, and Ash.

Interior

The cabin of the 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ follows a horizontal design layout, prioritising driver visibility through a low beltline and a vertically positioned A-pillar. Black synthetic leather seats are fitted across all five positions, with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. The second-row bench features a 55:45 split-fold configuration, five-position fore-and-aft sliding adjustment, and up to 40 degrees of recline. Boot space is rated at 765 litres, expandable to 1,522 litres with rear seats folded.

Technology highlights include a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 6-speaker audio system, a 7-inch Multi-Information Display with a clinometer showing vehicle pitch and roll angles, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Other features include push-button engine start, one-touch power windows for all four doors, and steering wheel-mounted controls. Interior materials are specified to be durable and easy to clean, reflecting the model’s rugged use case.

Powertrain

The Land Cruiser FJ is powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.7-litre 2TR-FE inline four-cylinder petrol engine with Dual VVT-i, producing 166 PS at 5,200 rpm and 245 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system with rear differential lock. A 2nd Start Mode is available to minimise wheel spin on slippery surfaces.
