Beijing 2026: Could this handsome BHE15-powered Volvo XC70 come Malaysia?

Volvo’s onslaught with SUVs isn’t slowing down one bit, and the new generation Volvo XC70 is one such example.

Tucked away in one of the very massive halls at the ongoing 2026 Beijing Motor Show is the 2026 Volvo XC70.

Developed on the Scalable Modular Architecture (SMA) platform as the Lynk & Co 07 and 08, the Volvo XC70 is available as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model, featuring a turbocharged 1.5-litre BHE15-BFZ, mated to three electric motors.

Combined system output is rated at 234 kW (318 PS) for the two-wheel drive variant, which gets a 21.2-kWH LFP battery pack. Said variant also offers a pure electric, CLTC-rated range of 116 km, whilst sipping just 1.27 L/100 km (WLTP).

There’s also a more potent four-wheel drive variant, juiced by a larger 39.6-kWh NMC battery pack. Said battery pack bumps up the pure EV range to 212 km CLTC, which also powers a third electric motor on the rear axle, enabling a combined system output of 340 kW (462 PS).

As the name suggests, the Volvo XC70 slots between the smaller and older XC60 and XC90. It measures 4,815 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,650 mm tall, with a 2,895 mm wheelbase.

For the Chinese market, the Volvo XC70 is manufactured at Geely’s facility in Taizhou, China. It is priced from CNY 249,900 (~RM 145k) to CNY 349,900 (~RM 203k).

What about Malaysia?

Hold your horses – the Volvo XC70 just went on sale in China, and has solve over 10,000 units within 70 days.

If and when it arrives in Malaysia, could this handsome SUV convince you over other rivals?
