UMW Toyota Motor sold 6,464 units in April, Pushes YTD total to 21,924 units

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has reported sales of 6,464 units for April 2026, bringing its year-to-date (YTD) total to 21,924 units. The result comes amid a period of active product expansion for the brand, with a growing electrified line-up and a range of ownership support initiatives aimed at Malaysian customers.

Central to UMWT’s product strategy is Toyota’s Multi-Pathway approach, which aims to offer electrified options across different customer readiness levels rather than committing to a single technology direction. On the battery electric side, the Toyota bZ4X, Urban Cruiser BEV, and Hilux BEV make up the brand’s BEV offering, while the all-new Yaris Cross joins the line-up as an electrified B-SUV option. Hybrid Electric Vehicles continue to serve customers looking for improved fuel efficiency without the need for external charging infrastructure.

Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, said the brand’s approach is shaped by the diversity of Malaysian lifestyles and mobility needs. “Whether it is Hybrid Electric Vehicles for customers seeking greater fuel efficiency and convenience in daily driving, or Battery Electric Vehicles for those ready to transition towards fully electric mobility, our goal is to offer solutions that fit how Malaysians live, commute, and travel,” he said.

On the ownership support front, UMWT’s Toyota Extra Mile programme and the Toyota MY App Campaign, which runs from April to June 2026, are currently active. New app registrants receive 500 Loyal-T Points, with a further 500 points available upon completing a service booking through the app at an authorised Toyota service centre. Accumulated points can be redeemed for service vouchers. Separately, UMWT’s May promotional campaign offers entry into Toyota ownership from RM 746 per month across selected models.

UMWT also reported strong participation numbers for two of its community programmes. Toyota Eco Youth, now in its 25th edition, received 327 submissions from schools nationwide, with RM 170,000 in grants and prizes going to 30 shortlisted schools for student-led environmental projects. The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest recorded its highest-ever participation with 6,508 submissions from 96 schools, involving more than 72,000 students.
