Roughly six months after the debut of the Smart #5 in China, Smart has dropped a teaser of the high-performance Brabus variant.
This follows the pattern set by previous Smart models — the Smart #1 and Smart #3 — both of which saw Brabus versions launched a few months after the standard models.

The Smart #5 was launched in China back in October 2024, across four variants. Upon its launch in China, the Smart #5 Brabus would be the fifth variant to be offered in the Middle Kingdom.
Powertrain options for the standard Smart #5 include:
- A rear-mounted electric motor delivering 250 kW (340 PS) and 373 Nm, available in entry-level and mid-spec trims. These versions come with a 76-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a CLTC-rated range of up to 570 km.
- A more powerful 267 kW (363 PS) rear-mounted motor paired with a larger 100-kWh ternary lithium battery, enabling a CLTC range of 740 km.
- The current top-spec version features dual motors, producing a combined output of 475 kW (646 PS) and 710 Nm of torque. It uses a 100-kWh battery with a 580 km CLTC-rated range
This dual-motor setup is likely to be carried over to the Smart #5 Brabus, mirroring the powertrain strategy seen in the Smart #3 Brabus.
Notably, both 100-kWh battery variants are equipped with an 800V electrical architecture, enabling up to 500 km of range in just a 15-minute charge.

Based on the teaser images released by Smart, the Brabus-tuned #5 appears to feature a matte grey exterior, similar to the Brabus editions of the Smart #1 and #3.
If earlier Brabus-tuned Smart models are anything to go by, we can expect the #5 Brabus to feature larger alloy wheels, red brake calipers, Brabus aerokit, Brabus emblems, aluminium pedals, microfibre suede seats, red seat belts, and even an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.

Closer to home, Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET) — the official distributor of Smart vehicles in Malaysia — currently offers the Smart #1 and Smart #3, including their Brabus variants. It remains to be seen whether the Smart #5 and its Brabus version will be introduced in the Malaysian market.
