TQ Wuling Bingo EV launching in Malaysia in Q4 2025, sub-RM100k, CKD Segambut by Tan Chong

Tan Chong Motor Group has introduced the TQ Wuling brand in Malaysia, as the company has entered a strategic partnership with SAIC GM Wuling Automobile Co Ltd (SGM Wuling). Said partnership will see the introduction of Wuling-branded electric vehicles (EVs) sold in Malaysia.

“TQ WULING reflects our commitment to innovation and sustainability in delivering quality mobility solutions accessible to all Malaysians. Our collaboration with SGM Wuling marks a significant step in expanding TQ Wuling’s local footprint and contributing to the local economy by producing the vehicles locally here in Malaysia. Our goal is to position the TQ Wuling brand as a preferred brand for value-driven and urban drivers,” said Daniel Ho, Group CEO of Tan Chong Motor Group.

The first model that TQ Wuling will introduce in Malaysia is the Wuling Bingo EV, a compact and affordable electric vehicle (EV) that is set to launch in Q4 2025, with an estimated price of below RM 100,000. The Bingo EV is set to be locally assembled (CKD) at Tan Chong’s Segambut plant for domestic sales, with export potential.

“SGM Wuling has always been dedicated to building high-quality practical and affordable vehicles. The partnership allows us to bring our EV technology to Malaysia with confidence. With our expertise in EVs, combined with Tan Chong Group’s strong market presence and manufacturing strength, we are excited to support Malaysia’s green mobility transition and bring sustainable driving solutions to local consumers,” said Tang Wensheng, President of PT SGMW Motor Indonesia. “ASEAN region is a key market for SGM Wuling’s overall strategic plan with key focus on Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.”

What is the Wuling Bingo EV?

The Wuling Bingo EV measures 3,950 mm in length, 1,708 mm in width, and 1,580 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm. For context, that puts the Wuling Bingo EV within the same ballpark as the Mazda 2 (4,080 mm x 1,695 mm x 1,495 mm, wheelbase 2,570 mm).

Powering the Wuling Bingo EV, at least on the cars that were shown, is a 37.9-kWh lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) battery pack that powers an electric motor that does 50 kW and 150 Nm. Under the CLTC test cycle, this variant of the Bingo EV is able to do up to 410 km.

Charging the Bingo EV via DC fast charging takes roughly 35 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC), while AC charging would take roughly 6.5 hours to fully charge.

For the Indonesian market, Wuling also offers low variants of the Bingo EV that gets a smaller 31.9-kWh LFP battery pack, with a lower CLTC-rated range of 333 km. The 333 km-variant of the Bingo EV is further split into two – one with only AC charging, and another that adds DC fast charging. AC charging takes roughly 5.5 hours to fully charge, while DC fast charging is similar at 35 minutes (30% to 80% SoC).

Prices start from IDR 301,000,000 (~RM 77,000) and tops out at IDR 345,000,000 (~RM 88,000). When the model arrives in Malaysia, how much do you reckon the TQ Wuling Bingo EV will be priced at?
