2025 Mazda 6e confirmed for Indonesia – Malaysia launching this bold EV soon?

Mazda’s all-new electric sedan, the Mazda 6e, is officially headed to Indonesia following an earlier confirmation for Thailand. Could Malaysia be the next stop for this fully electric Mazda 6 replacement?

According to OtoDriver, PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia COO Ricky Thio confirmed the Mazda 6e (known as EZ-6 in China) will launch soon in Indonesia. While full specs have yet to be revealed, Thio clarified that only the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) variant will be introduced initially. “Please be patient, but it will definitely be soon,” Thio stated.

Outside China, the 2025 Mazda 6e is expected to roll out gradually across ASEAN markets. Thailand has already confirmed its intention to launch the model, though no timeline has been provided. Additionally, while Mazda Thailand has committed THB 5 billion (RM 660 million) into a new xEV production facility, though the new facility is geared towards SUVs. Mazda CX-6e, maybe?

In Malaysia, while there’s no official confirmation yet, it’s worth noting that Bermaz Auto, official distributor of Mazda and Deepal, previewed the Deepal S07 SUV earlier this year—signaling growing cooperation with Changan.

Will Malaysia get the Mazda 6e?

With Indonesia and Thailand moving forward with the 2025 Mazda 6e, Malaysia may not be far behind. Bermaz already has connections to Changan via Deepal, and the rise of EV incentives in Malaysia could make the 6e an appealing premium electric sedan alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and BYD Seal.
