Earlier this month, Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia introduced the 2025 Mitsubishi Xpander facelift, marking the second refresh for the model since its original debut. And yes — it finally comes with six airbags, at least on the range-topping Ultimate variant.
This long-overdue safety upgrade puts the 2025 Mitsubishi Xpander closer in line with rivals like the Toyota Veloz and Honda BR-V (the latter of which, notably, isn’t sold here in Malaysia). However, while Mitsubishi has bolstered the passive safety side, active driver assistance systems are still nowhere to be seen — no AEB, no blind spot monitoring, not even lane departure warning.

Prices start from IDR 270.1 million (~RM 70k) and tops out at IDR 337.8 million (~RM 88k) for the fully-loaded Ultimate variant.
What else is new in the 2025 Mitsubishi Xpander?
Besides the improved airbag count, the 2025 Mitsubishi Xpander also gets subtle visual updates:
- Smoked LED headlights
- A revised front and rear bumper design
- New alloy wheel designs
Inside, updates continue with:
- A new steering wheel
- A fully digital instrument cluster
- A new 10-inch infotainment system
- Middle head rest for second-row seats
- Arm rest with two cup holders for second-row seats

These features help modernize the cabin, even if the platform remains familiar.
No change under the hood
Mechanically, the 2025 Mitsubishi Xpander soldiers on with the same 1.5-litre 4A91 naturally-aspirated petrol engine that does 105 PS and 141 Nm, paired to either a CVT automatic or 5-speed manual transmission, driving the front wheels. The top-spec Ultimate variant also benefits from Active Yaw Control (AYC) torque vectoring function.
What about Malaysia?
Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) launched the facelifted Xpander locally last year, offering two variants — both still limited to two airbags. It remains to be seen if or when the 6-airbag variant from Indonesia will make its way to our market.
