At the ongoing My BMW World 2025, BMW Malaysia unveiled the all-new F74-generation 2025 BMW 218 Gran Coupe.
This second-generation model succeeds the F44-generation model that has been around since 2020.
As before, the BMW 218 Gran Coupe is locally-assembled (CKD) at BMW’s facility in Kulim, Kedah. Being an entry-level model means that it also gets an entry-level price tag, in this case, an estimated price of RM 241,000.
What’s new on the 2025 BMW 218 Gran Coupe?
Power for the new F74-generation BMW 218 Gran Coupe comes from a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that does 156 PS and 230 Nm, sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
This marks a slight increase in both power (+16 PS) and torque (+10 Nm) compared to the predecessor.
Up front, the F74 2 Series Gran Coupe gets a completely overhauled front fascia, now with a redesigned kidney grille, with a pair of rounder and slimmer adaptive LED headlights flanking it.
The side profile of the F74 2 Series Gran Coupe is similar to the outgoing model, maintaining its swooping roofline for that fastback look. Taking a leaf out from the G60-generation 5 Series, BMW has given its entry-level sedan the same treatment – the numeral 2 can be found embossed in the Hofmeister kink.
As standard, the F74 2 Series Gran Coupe gets a set of 18-inch Bicolour alloy wheels.
Towards the rear-end, there are design cues of the G60 5 Series, as evident from the dark coloured lower bumper trim piece. But mini 5 Series it is not, as the 2025 BMW 218 Gran Coupe gets a pair of LED tail lights take rake upwards, similar to the predecessor model. The new lights are also more shapelier, a stark contrast from the F44-generation’s slim units.
Stepping into the cabin and it’s modern-day BMW through and through. Up front there’s a pair of digital displays – a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver, and a larger 10.7-inch digital infotainment display. The infotainment system runs on BMW Operating System 9, and offers voice control via the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

Other interior amenities include power-adjustable driver seat with memory, automatic air-conditioning, ambient lighting, and Veganza upholstery.
It’s properly safe too – there’s Driving Assistant with Lane Change Warning, Speed Limit Info, Rear Crossing Traffic Alert with brake intervention, Exit Warning, Reverse Emergency Braking, and Predictive Forward Collision Warning. Additionally, there’s also Parking Assistant that includes Reversing Assistant.
For the Malaysian market, the 2025 BMW 218 Gran Coupe is offered in Alpine White, Black Sapphire, and Cape York Green.
