Proton and Touch ‘n Go have entered a new strategic partnership to equip every all-new 2025 Proton X50 with a factory-installed Touch ‘n Go RFID tag. This initiative aims to enhance convenience for new owners, allowing them to use the RFID system right from the moment they drive off the showroom floor.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) took place between Praba Sangarajoo, CEO of Touch ‘n Go, and Zhang Qiang, Deputy CEO of Proton Edar. Witnesses included Jarrod Wong, Sales Director of Touch ‘n Go, and Ong Chee Wooi, Head of Sales, Proton Edar.
“It’s about instant gratification,” said Praba Sangarajoo. “You drive your new Proton X50 off the showroom floor with RFID already installed — just like that. This isn’t just about smarter mobility; it’s about creating seamless, intuitive everyday journeys. Touch ‘n Go is proud to co-create this milestone with Proton for Malaysians, by Malaysians.”

“The Proton X50 has been PROTON’s star product for our SUV range and today, over 140,000 units have rolled off the production line at Tanjong Malim. With the launch of the all-new Proton X50, we have taken a quantum leap forward to improve the purchase value for customers by offering a new design and new technologies while keeping the price unchanged. By partnering with Touch ‘n Go, PROTON is adding another new feature that fits perfectly with the model tagline of Intelligence That Amazes,” said Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar.
“With other launches in our pipeline, PROTON is looking to extend the fitment of Touch ‘n Go RFID tags to other models to offer an improved level of convenience to our customers. Our aim is to improve the level of customer satisfaction, and we think this is one of the steps we can consider towards achieving that goal,” added Zhang Qiang.
