Chery Malaysia has opened bookings for the new 2025 Chery O5 facelift. The company’s first B-segment SUV, initially launched as the Omoda 5, has now been renamed to O5 as part of this facelift exercise.
In overseas markets such as Australia and Indonesia, the same model is sold as the Chery C5.
What’s new on the 2025 Chery O5 facelift?
First up is the updated exterior. The front fascia now wears a redesigned bumper, while the massive grille remains but swaps its chrome studs for body-coloured ones. Arrow-shaped LED daytime running lights flank the OMODA script, giving the O5 a sharper and more modern look.
The 18-inch alloy wheels have also been redesigned – now in full black compared to the pre-facelift Omoda 5’s red-highlighted set.
Under the skin, the 2025 Chery O5 facelift replaces the CVT automatic with a new 6-speed dual-clutch (DCT) transmission, paired with the familiar 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 156 PS and 230 Nm.
More significantly, the old rear torsion beam setup has been upgraded to a multi-link rear suspension, mirroring the arrangement found on the Omoda E5 EV. This should bring improvements in both comfort and handling.
Chery Malaysia’s ROI page for the O5 facelift also mentions features like faux leather seat with ventilated seats, six airbags, Sony Premium audio system, Level 2 ADAS, 20.5” integrated (dual 10.25-inch displays) dual screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice assistant, automatic dual-zone climate control, 540-degree camera, and wireless charger – all carried over from the prefacelift model.
When will the 2025 Chery O5 facelift launch in Malaysia?
Now that registration of interest (ROI) is opened, we believe it’s only a matter of time before Chery Malaysia officially launches the updated B-segment SUV in the country.
