Chery Malaysia has just launched the new 2025 Chery O5 facelift in Malaysia, slightly more than a week after bookings were opened.

Yes, the Chery Omoda 5 nameplate is no more; Chery Malaysia’s new entry-level model has been renamed to the Chery O5.

Prices start from RM 116,800 (on-the-road, without insurance). Unlike the pre-facelifted model, the 2025 Chery O5 facelift is only offered in one variant.

What’s new with the 2025 Chery O5 facelift?

As with most facelift exercises, the 2025 Chery O5 facelift gets a restyled front bumper with a more prominent X design. The massive front grille is still present, albeit with its chrome studs swapped out for body-coloured ones.

Sitting atop the new front bumper are a pair of sharp LED daytime running lights (DRLs) that surround a new OMODA script, giving this B-segment SUV a refreshed look.

There’s also a redesigned set of 18-inch alloy wheels, now in full black. Additionally, the 2025 Chery O5 facelift drops the red highlight of the older model, and that includes the red highlights on the wheels.

While the turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine remains the same as before, producing 156 PS and 230 Nm, Chery has swapped out the CVT automatic transmission in favour of a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) transmission. As before, the 2025 Chery O5 facelift is front-wheel drive (FWD).

This powertrain combination mirrors several models under the larger Chery umbrella, including the 2025 Jetour Dashing (and VT9). The 2025 Chery Tiggo Cross also gets this powertrain, albeit at a slightly lower tune (147 PS & 210 Nm).

The torsion beam rear suspension has also been swapped out, as the 2025 Chery O5 facelift now adopts a rear multi-link suspension from the Omoda E5.

Stepping into the cabin, it’s largely business as usual. There are dual 10.25-inch displays, one that serves as a digital instrument cluster, and the other that takes on infotainment duties. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported as well, pumping audio through a Sony Premium 8-speaker sound system.

That said, there’s now a “borderless”-style rear-view mirror, as well as a sleeker vanity mirror with toggleable warm and cool lighting.

Chery has also revised the colour palette of the 2025 Chery O5 facelift with two new colours, Bloodstone Red and Carbon Black. There’s also Phantom Grey and Khaki White that are carried over from the pre-facelift model.

In terms of aftersales, it’s business as usual. Chery Malaysia is offering the 2025 Chery O5 with:

  • 7-year/150,000-km vehicle warranty
  • 7-year/150,000-km engine warranty

As part of its launch package, Chery Malaysia is offering:
