New 2025 BYD Seal 6 EV launched in Malaysia: RWD C-segment sedan with 218 PS priced from RM 100k

BYD Malaysia has just launched the new 2025 BYD Seal 6 EV in the country. The model is sold in China as the Qin L and Malaysia is the first country outside of the Middle Kingdom to launch this model in right-hand drive (RHD) format.

Overview

The newly-launched 2025 BYD Seal 6 EV, as the name suggests, is positioned below the larger (and more expensive) 2025 BYD Seal.

Compared to the larger Seal, the new Seal 6 is priced from:

Both prices are the recommended retail price (RRP), without registration fees (RM 300), HP ownership endorsement fee (RM 50), EV plate fees (RM 150), inspection fees (RM 700), and insurance.

Like the Atto 2, BYD is offering an Exclusive Launch Package worth up to RM 6,288, for the first 800 customers.

Buyers of the Dynamic variant will receive a free wall box charger worth RM 3,288, while buyers of the Premium variant are entitled to:

In terms of powertrains, both the Dynamic and Premium variants are fitted with the same 56.64-kWh BYD Blade battery pack, enabling an NEDC-rated range of 485 km.

The entry-level Dynamic gets a rear-mounted electric motor that does 95 kW (129 PS) and 220 Nm. The Dynamic is able to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 10.9 seconds, while top speed is rated at 160 km/h.

As for the Premium, it gets a more powerful electric motor capable of delivering 160 kW (219 PS) and 330 Nm, shaving the 0-100 km/h time to 7.5 seconds. Top speed, according to BYD, is 180 km/h.

Regardless of variant, BYD says that the Seal 6 takes just 23 minutes to DC fast charge from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC).

Additionally, BYD was keen to point out that the Seal 6 features a 12-volt LFP battery as opposed to a lead acid one, which offers a much lower self-consumption (0.02 kWh vs 0.1 kWh), compact sized, and far more stable as it’s less impacted by temperatures.

Exterior

The 2025 BYD Seal 6 EV is unmistakably BYD – the front fascia features the BYD script with a full-length plastic trim piece, mirroring the Atto 2 and Atto 3. Said plastic trim piece also houses an LED light strip that gives the Seal 6 EV (Premium variant only) a futuristic look. There’s also a pair of air curtains at each corner of the front bumper to help reduce drag – BYD says that the Seal 6 EV boasts a drag coefficient of 0.26 Cd.

Towards the rear of the 2025 BYD Seal 6 EV is a full-width LED tail light, with what BYD calls “Dimensional ring tail light”. The model script is positioned on the lower right corner of the boot, while the lower left gets an “EV” script – in-line with other BYD-branded models (models with AWD option replace the EV badge with AWD instead).

A set of 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels complete the exterior of the Premium variant of the BYD Seal 6, while the Dynamic gets a smaller set of 225/55R17 wheels.

Dimension-wise, the 2025 BYD Seal 6EV is the largest C-segment sedan on sale in Malaysia, measuring 4,720 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,495 mm tall. Its 2,820-mm long wheelbase is also the longest amongst all C-segment models sold in Malaysia.

The table below should give better context of the Seal 6 EV’s dimensions.

Three body colours are offered for the Malaysian market, namely Arctic White, Harbour Grey, and Misty Blue.

Interior

Stepping into the cabin of the 2025 Seal 6 EV and we can’t help but to notice the similarities between this EV sedan and the 2025 BYD Atto 2 – the steering wheel, switchgear, power window controls, and air-conditioning vents are identical to each other.

That said, the Seal 6 EV features ambient lighting. The Dynamic offers a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat and a 4-way manual-adjustment front passenger seat, while the Premium variant features an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat and 4-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. Both front seats of the Premium variant offer 3 levels of adjustable ventilation.

Sitting in the centre of the dashboard is a large 12.8-inch DiLink infotainment display that supports English, Mandarin, Malay, and Cantonese voice command. There’s also support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The instrument cluster measures 8.8 inches.

Audio is routed to an 8-speaker sound system in the Premium variant, while the Dynamic variant gets a 6-speaker sound system. There’s also a 15W wireless phone charging pad for the Premium variant.

The 2025 BYD Seal 6 EV is also engineered with practicality in mind, as it offers 24 storage compartments, including storage locations in the door cards for water bottles. There’s also a 65-litre frunk and a 460-litre boot.
