Part of the reason why the 2025 BYD Atto 2 shot up in popularity is due to its price point. The sole variant of the 2025 BYD Atto 2 in Malaysia is priced from RM 100k (OTR, without insurance) – making it one of the most affordable imported (CBU) EV in Malaysia.

No. 3 – 2025 BYD Atto 3: 307 units

Perhaps on the oldest model in our list is the 2025 BYD Atto 3, having first launched in Malaysia back in December 2022, the Atto 3 received an update in April 2025.

Said update renamed the model to the 2025 BYD Atto 3 Ultra. The Atto 3 also received a price cut, with this EV SUV now retailing for RM 123,800 (OTR without insurance).

Back in August, BYD sold a total of 307 units of the Atto 3 in Malaysia, placing the model in third spot. YTD sales for the Atto 3 is at 2,363 units.

Last month BYD sold 234 units of the 2025 BYD Sealion 7 in the country, a slight dip from its 278 units in July. Regardless, YTD sales for the BYD Sealion 7 is at 2,472 units.

The sole EV sedan in our list of Chinese EVs is the 2025 BYD Seal. Sales of the model is gradually picking up, with a total of 92 units sold in August, bringing the YTD sales to 825 units.

BYD recently introduced the 2025 BYD Seal in Malaysia, with prices of this EV sedan revised to be RM 8,000 cheaper than before.

Prices of the 2025 BYD Seal now start from RM 171,800 for the Premium variant and RM 191,800 for the Performance variant. Both prices are OTR without insurance.

No. 6 – 2025 BYD M6: 82 units

The final BYD-branded model in our list is the 2025 BYD M6, the company’s most affordable EV MPV. Last month, 82 units of the 2025 BYD M6 found new homes. YTD sales of the BYD M6 is at 1,174 units.

For the Malaysian market, there are two variants of the 2025 BYD M6 on offer – the Standard which retails for RM 109,800 and the Extended which goes for RM 123,800 (OTR without insurance).

No. 7 – 2025 Leapmotor C10: 72 units

Ever since Leapmotor introduced the updated 2025 Leapmotor C10 in Malaysia back in June, sales of this D-segment EV SUV have been picking up.

Last month, Leapmotor sold a total of 72 units of the C10 – the highest figure of the year (so far). YTD sales of the Leapmotor C10 is at 225 units.

Back in June, Leapmotor updated the C10, giving the model an improved 11-kW on-board AC charger, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), tyre inflator kit, and a tonneau cover for the rear.

At the same time, prices were slashed from its launch price of RM 149,000 to RM 125,000.

No. 8 – 2025 Denza D9: 69 units

It’s a neck-to-neck battle in the premium EV MPV segment between the 2025 Zeekr 009 and 2025 Denza D9, as both EV MPVs sold 69 units last month.

That said, when looking at the YTD sales, the 2025 Denza D9 has a slight edge, with a total of 787 units sold. For a model that was launched in February 2025, that’s an impressive feat indeed.

In Malaysia, prices of the 2025 Denza D9 start from RM 259,000 for the Advanced FWD, while the Premium AWD goes for RM 309,000 (OTR, without insurance).

No. 9 – 2025 Zeekr 009: 69 units

Trailing close behind the 2025 Denza D9 in sales is the 2025 Zeekr 009. Like the D9, Zeekr also sold 69 units of the 009 in August, though YTD sales is slightly lower at 567 units.

Zeekr Malaysia recently introduced the entry-level Executive variant in the country, bringing the entry point down to RM 299,800. The Luxury retails for RM 349,800 while the Ultra Luxury is priced from RM 359,800 (OTR without insurance).

Now with a lower entry point, sales of the Zeekr 009 could be gradually picking up over the next couple of months.

No. 10 – 2025 Xpeng X9: 64 units

Sitting in tenth spot in our list is the 2025 Xpeng X9. Last month, Xpeng sold 64 units of the X9 in the country, bringing the YTD sales to 378 units.

Interestingly, it does seem like Malaysian buyers favour the X9 over the G6, as sales of this premium EV MPV have been consistently higher than the G6. Speaking of the G6, this EV SUV has dropped off the top-10 list (only 32 units were sold last month).

Three variants are offered here, priced between RM 270,708 to RM 300,708 (OTR without insurance).

Conclusion

Over the past month, quite a number of new entrants entered the Malaysian EV scene, including the 2025 Lotus Emeya and 2025 Lotus Eletre, 2025 Zeekr 7X, and 2025 BYD Seal. Consumers shopping for an EV today have lots of choices to pick from, be it an affordable SUV all the way to premium MPVs.
