2026 Perodua QV-E launched in Malaysia: First homegrown EV is priced at RM 80,000, BaaS RM 300 more

This is perhaps the most highly-anticipated launch of the year, as Perodua has just taken the covers off the brand-new 2026 Perodua QV-E – the company’s first-ever electric vehicle (EV).

Overview

According to Perodua, the QV-E (pronounced Qui-Vee, silent “e”) is “the first 100% Malaysian EV”. The sole variant is priced at RM 80,000 (on-the-road, without insurance, battery not included). Perodua will also be covering the road tax of the QV-E for 2026.

Then there’s the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) aspect of the QV-E, as customers are required to pay RM 275 (+ 8% SST) per month, for 9 years.

Perodua says that BaaS is to provide peace of mind to customers, as customers don’t own the battery (which can degrade over time). At the same time, as the battery is out of the equation, Perodua states that the second-hand value of the QV-E can be maintained.

Under the QV-E’s battery leasing programme, Perodua retains full ownership of the HV battery pack. A battery tracker is fitted to manage the end-of-life (EOL) aspect, as Perodua can dispatch a dedicated rescue team to rescue the High Voltage (HV) battery pack.

At launch, only nine dealerships across Malaysia will be offering the 2026 Perodua QV-E:

  • Perodua Sentral
  • PSSB Glenmarie
  • PSSB Putrajaya
  • PSSB Senawang
  • PSSB Johor Bahru 1
  • PSSB Kuatan
  • PSSB Kota Bharu 1
  • PSSB Juru
  • PSSB Ipoh 2

Exterior

This is perhaps Perodua’s best-looking and most futuristic model to-date. The QV-E features Perodua’s signature X-motif front fascia, with slim LED daytime running lights with a connecting LED grille light sitting atop, while each corner gets a pair of LED projector headlights, combining both low beam and high beam units.

Towards the rear is a sleek roofline, as Perodua calls the QV-E a sportback. Similar to the front-end, the rear end gets a LED bar that connects both tail lights.

A set of 18-inch wheels complete the exterior design of the Perodua QV-E.

Two colour choices are available on the Perodua QV-E: Caviar Grey and Ice Blue.

In terms of dimensions, the Perodua QV-E measures 4,170 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,502 mm tall. The wheelbase spans 2,680 mm.

For comparison, that would put the 2026 Perodua QV-E somewhere between the Proton eMas 5 and BYD Dolphin, in terms of dimension.

Interior

Stepping inside the QV-E’s cabin and you’re greeted by a very modern-looking dashboard, one that you would not typically associate with this brand.

There’s a free-standing 10.25-inch infotainment display that houses most of the vehicle’s controls, which also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – the first for the brand.

The driver also gets a completely new multi-function steering wheel, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as a rotary-style gear shifter.

Below the QV-E’s infotainment display is a row of physical buttons, responsible for the hazard lights, air-conditioning controls, and door lock/unlock.

Other Perodua-firsts include a digital rear-view mirror, ambient lighting, variable intermittent wiper control, powered driver seat, automatic air-conditioning, and wireless phone charger.

Powertrain

Powering the 2026 Perodua QV-E is a front-mounted electric motor that outputs 150 kW (204 PS) and 285 Nm, juiced by a 52.5-kWh CATL-sourced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

DC charging at 60 kW takes 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC), while AC charging at 6.6 kW takes about 8 hours to fully charge.

Perodua also pointed out that the QV-E can complete the 0-100 km/h sprint time in just 7.5 seconds (Sport Mode), before reaching a top speed of 165 km/h.

Under the NEDC test cycle, the 2026 Perodua QV-E returns a range of up to 445 km.

This system is able to notify the vehicle’s owner of child/infants left in the car via horn, hazard light flashes, as well as app and SMS notifications.
