GWM Thailand has just launched the 2026 GWM Wey G9 PHEV MPV in the Kingdom. The sole Hi4 variant is priced at THB 2,349,000 (~RM 303k) and is imported (CBU) from Malaysia.
The Wey G9 Hi4 is powered by a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system, comprising of a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine that’s mated to a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) with two electric motors.
Combined system output of the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 is 325 kW (442 PS) and 642 Nm of torque. As the Hi-4 name suggests, the MPV is all-wheel drive (AWD) and offers EV, EV Priority, and Smart Hybrid driving modes.

Power for the electric motors comes from a 44.28-kWh ternary lithium battery pack. The battery pack supports DC fast charging up to 60 kW (30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) in just 26 minutes) and 6.6 kW AC charging (15% to 100% SoC in 6.5 hours).
Under the NEDC test cycle, the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 can travel up to 170 km with electric power alone, with the total driving range touching the 1,000 km mark when combined with the petrol engine.

What about Malaysia?
Hang tight – now that production has ramped up (as evident from the Thai launch), we reckon that the local launch should be just around the corner.
While our neighbours up north has to pay slightly more than RM 300k (converted from THB) for the Wey G9, that may not be the case for Malaysians, as the estimated price for the Malaysian-spec units is below the RM 300k mark.
