What is the e-Power powertrain?

The e-Power moniker indicates that the C28 Nissan Serena e-Power gets a similar powertrain as the Nissan Kicks.

For the larger C-segment Serena, it gets a 1.4-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, codenamed HR14DDe mated to an electric motor for a combined output of 163 PS and 315 Nm.

Compared to the C27 Serena which offered 150 PS and 200 Nm, the new C28 Serena offers more power and more torque, without the CVT rubber band one would normally experience.

Unlike the C27 Serena, the new C28 Serena’s engine serves purely as an on-board generator for the electric motor. Behind the wheel, the C28 Serena drives just like an EV, with immediate response and instant torque delivery.

The electric motor is powered by a small 1.77-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, allowing for a claimed fuel consumption of 18.5 km/L. When combined with its 52-litre fuel tank, the C28 Serena can return an NEDC-rated range of up to 1,000 km.

When will ETCM launch the C28 Nissan Serena e-Power in Malaysia?

According to the company, they’re looking to launch the C28 Nissan Serena e-Power here within the first quarter of 2026.
