What was initially speculated as the Perodua Nexis turned out to be false, as Perodua just launched its newest B-segment SUV called the 2026 Perodua Traz. The Traz is a B-segment SUV that’s positioned above the A-segment Perodua Ativa, and is a sibling model to the DNGA-based Toyota Yaris Cross.
Overview
The 2026 Perodua Traz marks a departure from Perodua’s usual format, as the Traz is only offered in two variants: X and H. There’s no AV variant at launch.
Prices of the 2026 Perodua Traz start from RM 76,100 for the X variant, while the H variant goes for RM 81,100. Both prices are on-the-road, without insurance. The dual-tone paint option costs an additional RM 900.
Perodua expects to sell roughly 1,900 units/month. The Perodua Traz will be the fourth model to be manufactured at the Perodua Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (PMSB) facility, following the Myvi, Alza, and Aruz. Perodua’s other facility, Perodua Global Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (PGMSB) manufactures the Ativa, Axia, and Bezza.
Exterior
There’s no hiding the fact that the Perodua Traz has a lot in common with the DNGA-based Toyota Yaris Cross – its sibling model.
Up front, whereas the Toyota Yaris Cross gets an inverted D-shaped front grille like the larger Corolla Cross, the Traz offers Perodua’s signature X-shaped front fascia with a hexagonal front grille – in-line with other Perodua models such as the Ativa, Alza, Myvi, Aruz, and Axia.
The Traz also offers a marginally larger front fog light surround as opposed to the Yaris Cross’ simpler design. Further separating the Traz from the Yaris Cross is the carbon fibre pattern found on the lower air intake.
Towards the rear and the Traz is one handsome-looking B-SUV. The LED tail lights are similar to the Yaris Cross, which means that they cut into the rear, creating a pseudo-first-gen-Lexus-NX look. Furthermore, while the curves of the Yaris Cross are aimed downwards, the Traz features more horizontal bodylines, accentuating the car’s width.
A set of 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with shuriken design complete the exterior of the 2026 Perodua Traz.
The 2026 Perodua Traz measures 4,310 mm long, 1,770 mm wide, and 1,655 mm tall, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase. For comparison, the Ativa measures 4,065 mm long, 1,710 mm wide, and 1,635 mm tall, with a wheelbase that measures 2,525 mm.
It’s worth noting that the Traz’s 2,620 mm long wheelbase is among the longest within its segment, beating the X50 (2,600 mm), Tiggo Cross (2,610 mm), and HR-V (2,610 mm).
Colour options include:
- H variant: Glittering Silver with Black Roof & Electric Blue with Black Roof
- X & H variants: Cranberry Red, Glittering Silver, Granite Grey, Ivory White
Interior
Perodua went to town with the red highlights in the Traz – there’s red highlights that goes across the dashboard, air vent surround, as well as red stitching on the seats. For comparison, the Yaris Cross offers blue highlights, regardless of ICE or HEV variant.
Also a first for Perodua is the soft touch padding, which can be found on the door cards and dashboard, giving the Traz an upmarket appeal. Curiously, the Traz makes do without Perodua’s signature air-conditioning controls with front demister and memory feature – the one found in the Traz mirrors the Yaris Cross and Vios, which lacks both aforementioned features.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support is standard across both variants, which is available on the 9.0-inch infotainment display. Also standard across both the X and H variants are sunvisors with illumination, on both sides.
Boot space is a generous 471 litres (rivals offer less than 400 litres), which is flexible enough as there’s a two-step floor and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.

Powertrain
Powering the 2026 Perodua Traz is a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre 2NR-VE four-cylinder petrol engine that does 106 PS and 138 Nm, mated to the Dual-mode CVT (D-CVT) that sends drive to the front wheels. This powertrain combination isn’t new, as it is already featured on models like the Perodua Myvi and Perodua Alza.
Under the Malaysia Driving Cycle (MDC), Perodua says that the Traz returns up to 21.3 km/L. The Traz’s fuel tank comes in at 42 litres.

Brief Driving Impression
As part of preview, Perodua also arranged for a brief test drive of the Traz on their internal test track.
From the start, we noticed that power delivery was adequate from the 1.5L NA, bringing this 1,150 kg B-SUV up to national highway speed limit with relative ease. A gentle prod of the throttle was sufficient, though when given the beans, the D-CVT certainly made itself known. Wind noise too, was somewhat apparent at higher speeds, though it remains to be seen how it performs in the real world.
The steering also feels heavier than what one would normally expect from a Perodua, even though we understand that the Traz has received a larger electric power steering motor relative to its other siblings.
In terms of overall refinement, the Alza and Ativa may have a slight edge in that department, though we would need to revisit either one and spend more time with the Traz to properly gauge it.
