2 years in and smart Malaysia is doing things differently

Two years in and smart Malaysia is doing things differently, and not in the way many expected. Instead of chasing hype, the company has focused on pragmatic shifts that are reshaping how Malaysians experience the smart marque.

Since its Malaysian debut in 2023, smart has steadily built a following among urban drivers drawn to compact, stylish and sustainable electric mobility. Today, the brand’s local ownership base spans the smart #1, smart #3 and smart #5, reflecting smart’s expanding appeal across multiple EV segments.

Anniversary drive and lifestyle activities

The anniversary event began at the smart Glenmarie dealership in Shah Alam before heading to Beacon Resort in Kerling, Selangor. Designed as a family-friendly outing, the drive focused on lifestyle experiences rather than performance, giving owners an opportunity to connect, exchange experiences and celebrate smart-inspired living in a relaxed environment.

A total of 38 smart EVs took part in the convoy, comprising 19 smart #1, 14 smart #3 and five smart #5 models, showcasing the diversity of smart’s EV lineup currently on Malaysian roads.

Mr. Sua Chek Hoong, Chief Information Officer of PRO-NET and Head of the smart Business Unit, said the milestone reflects the strong bond between the brand and its customers. “The past two years have been an exciting journey for smart in Malaysia. This drive is a celebration of our owners, their enthusiasm, and the camaraderie we’ve built together, proving that smart is more than just a car,” he said.

The second anniversary gathering reinforces smart’s commitment to cultivating a close-knit, smart-minded community—one that extends beyond the initial showroom experience. PRO-NET says the brand will continue to grow its EV lineup, strengthen owner engagement and encourage more Malaysians to embrace compact, stylish and enjoyable electric mobility.
