Come Friday (27 February) and Honda Cars Philippines (HCP) will be opening its order books for the next-generation Honda Prelude. Philippines is the second regional market after Indonesia to introduce the BF1-generation Honda Prelude.
According to a report by CarGuide.ph, for the Philippines market, HCP will be offering a sole 2.0 e:HEV variant, which is the same powertrain as the one found in our Honda CR-V RS e:HEV and Honda Civic RS e:HEV.

Power output for the Prelude matches the Civic RS e:EV, with its petrol-electric hybrid powertrain offering 184 PS and 315 Nm. The CR-V RS e:HEV, on the other hand, offers 20 Nm more torque at 335 Nm.
Unlike the CR-V and Civic, the Prelude will debut the Honda S+ Shift drive mode switch. When enabled, the S+ Shift mimics an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rev-matched downshifts can also be achieved with the S+ mode turned on.
And while the Prelude may not be donning a Type R emblem, the model does offer the Type R’s Dual Axis front suspension, active damper system, variable gear ratio steering, and Brembo brakes.
That being said, the Prelude isn’t a sports car; instead, the Prelude is designed and engineered to be a comfortable grand tourer.
Closer to home, Honda Malaysia has teased the imminent arrival of the S+ Shift technology in Malaysia, hinting that the Prelude is just around the corner for us.

It remains to be seen the Prelude’s pricing here. Over in Japan, the Prelude is priced at JPY 6,179,800 (~RM 154k) higher than the FL5 Civic Type R (JPY 4,997,300 or ~RM 124k), between the GR Supra 2.0L (JPY 4,995,000 or ~RM 124k )and GR Supra 3.0L (JPY 8,000,000 or ~RM 199k).
