
The MG S5 EV is the latest EV to be locally-assembled (CKD) in Malaysia, joining the ranks of Chery, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo in terms of offering CKD EVs.
Compared to the earlier imported (CBU) units, the CKD MG S5 EV offers more power and torque. The rear-mounted electric motor now outputs 151 kW (205 PS) and 350 Nm, marking a 35 PS and 100 Nm increase compared to before.

While the 62-kWh CATL-sourced LFP battery pack remains unchanged from before, the WLTP-rated range is marginally increased to 446 km from 430 km. MG mentioned that this is due to motor-related improvements.

At the time of writing, the CKD MG S5 EV is only offered in the top-spec Lux variant, tentatively priced at RM 120,000. MG Malaysia is expected to officially launch the CKD MG S5 EV soon.
