Omoda |Jaecoo Malaysia has just launched the new 2026 Omoda C9 PHEV in the country. This new D-segment SUV is the marque’s most powerful model to-date.

Overview

The 2026 Omoda C9 PHEV is the company’s flagship model, positioned above the regular petrol-powered C9.

Locally assembled (CKD) at the Chery Corporate Malaysia Factory in Shah Alam, it is priced from RM 208,800 on-the-road without insurance.

Customers who book between 18-March and 30-April 2026 are eligible for a RM 3,000 Duit Raya rebate, a complimentary V2L connector cable worth RM 730, and for a limited number of CBU units: complimentary one-year insurance coverage worth up to RM 6,000.

Exterior

Much of the exterior of the 2026 Omoda C9 PHEV is identical to the regular petrol-powered C9, though with the addition of a charging port on the left-side of the vehicle.

Standard exterior equipment includes LED lighting throughout, 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/50R20 Michelin e-Primacy tyres, heated side mirrors, and double-glazed (laminated) front windows.

Colour options include Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and Matte Grey.

Interior

The cabin is upholstered in premium black leather throughout. Both first and second-row seats are heated and ventilated. A panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade is fitted as standard. Boot space is rated at 660 litres with the rear seats in place, expanding to 1,783 litres with the rear seats folded.

Other highlights include a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a head-up display (HUD), and a 14-speaker Sony premium sound system with two dedicated headrest speakers for the driver. What separates the C9 PHEV from the regular C9 is the addition of the EV mode selector.

There’s also dual-zone automatic climate control with negative ion refreshing function, in-car fragrance, and rear air vents.

Powertrain

The 2026 Omoda C9 PHEV is powered by Chery’s Super Hybrid System (SHS), featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a tri-motor setup and a 3-Speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).

The 1.5-litre engine produces 143 PS and 215 Nm, with various technologies to offer a thermal efficiency of up to 44.5%. The front axle is driven by dual electric motors producing a combined 165 kW and 390 Nm through the DHT. A third electric motor on the rear axle produces 175 kW (238 PS) and 310 Nm, providing all-wheel drive when engaged.

Combined system output is 395 kW (537 PS) and 650 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 1.4L/100km under the NEDC cycle, and when combined with the 70-litre fuel tank, the total driving range is approximately 1,100 km on a full tank and fully charged battery.

The 34.46-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery enables up to 169 km of pure electric range under the NEDC cycle. DC fast charging at 70 kW takes the battery from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) in 25 minutes. AC charging at 6.6 kW takes approximately 5.5 hours from 30% to 100%.

Six selectable drive modes, three levels of regenerative braking, and a toggle between Full EV and Smart HEV modes are available.
