Ahead of its Q2 launch, Honda Malaysia has previewed the upcoming sixth-generation Honda Prelude in the country.
Seen here is a Crystal Black Pearl example of the Prelude, complete with the blue Brembo brake calipers. Apart from the Crystal Black Pearl, the Japan-market Prelude is also available in Flame Red, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Moonlit White Pearl, and Moonlit White with black roof – the latter is exclusive to the Honda ON online store and cannot be found in regular dealers.

Other than that, we noticed that the preview unit also gets Blind Spot Information (BSI), Honda Sensing ADAS suite, and 19-inch wheels wrapped in 235/40R19 tyres.
Powering this sleek two-door coupe is Honda’s two-motor petrol-electric e:HEV powertrain, featuring a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre engine hooked up to an electric motor. The engine outputs 141 PS and 182 Nm, while the electric motor does 184 PS and 315 Nm – identical figures as the Civic e:HEV and CR-V e:HEV.

Unlike its mainstream siblings, the Prelude offers the Honda S+ Shift drive mode switch that mimics an eight-speed automatic transmission. With the S+ mode engaged, the Prelude is even able to mimic rev-matched downshifts as well.
There’s also Active Sound Control that syncs engine notes with engine speed, while the four drive modes (Sport, GT, Comfort, Individual) ensures that drivers can fully customize their driving preferences.

Handling is managed by a Civic Type R-derived Dual Axis front suspension that separates the steering knuckle from the dampers, thus increasing the steering-axis flexibility and reduces torque steer. There’s other Civic Type R bits, like the active damper system, variable gear-ratio steering (VGR), rigid drive shafts, and the aforementioned Brembo brakes.
The model can be booked at prebook.honda.com.my.
