Chery’s SUV range will soon welcome its flagship model in the form of the new 2026 Chery Tiggo 9.
As the name suggests, the Tiggo 9 is positioned above Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 in Chery Malaysia’s line-up.
Overview
Similar to other Chery models, the Chery Tiggo 9 seen here has a distance relative in the form of the Jaecoo J8 – also a three-row, seven-seater D-segment SUV. The Jaecoo J8 is sold in China as the Tiggo 9, though sold outside of the Middle Kingdom as the J8.

Being a preview, Chery Malaysia has yet to reveal prices of the Chery Tiggo 9, but for comparison’s sake, the Tiggo 8, which is the company’s current flagship model, is priced at RM 159,800.
According to Chery Malaysia, the Tiggo 9 will have an estimated price of “below RM 189,000”.
Exterior

Chery’s on a roll with its recent model launches, and the Tiggo 9 is no exception. The Tiggo 9 definitely looks majestic, thanks to its massive grille and large proportions. Furthermore, the 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels look like they were lifted off a certain flagship Japanese saloon.

Towards the rear and there’s a full-length LED tail light, complete with dual exhaust on the lower corner of the bumper.
For the Malaysian market, Chery Malaysia is offering two colours on the Tiggo 9 – Carbon Black and Matte Grey.
In terms of dimensions, the Tiggo 9 measures 4,810 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, and 1,741 mm tall, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase.
Interior

Inside, the Chery Tiggo 9 is a three-row, seven-seater SUV. For the driver, there’s a 10.25-inch digital driver display supplemented by a HD head-up display (HUD).

There’s also a large 15.6-inch infotainment display with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which routes audio through a 14-speaker, Sony-branded audio system.

Other cabin amnesties include a 50W wireless charger with cooling function, multiple USB-A and USB-C ports, second-row ventilated and heated seats, and 50:50 split folding third-row seats.
Powertrain
The powertrain powering the Chery Tiggo 9 is a familiar one – a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit that outputs 256 PS and 390 Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Said powertrain is shared with the Tiggo 8 Pro and Jetour T2.

Whereas the Tiggo 8 Pro is a front-wheel drive model with three driving modes, the Tiggo 9 sends power to all four wheels with seven drive modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, Sand, Mud, Snow, and Offroad).
