Earlier this week, Geely unveiled the updated 2026 Geely Cowboy in China. While the Geely Cowboy itself isn’t new, itself having launched back in 2024, this update brings with it some equipment upgrade.
What is the 2026 Geely Cowboy?
For starters, the Geely Cowboy is essentially an off-road, more rugged version of the Geely Icon – the latter is a B-segment SUV that shares its BMA platform with the Geely Binyue and Proton X50.

The Geely Cowboy, however, is a larger vehicle than the Binyue, measuring 4,442 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,770 mm tall, with a 2,640 mm wheelbase. The 2,640 mm wheelbase is 40 mm longer than the Proton X50 and is identical to the Corolla Cross.

Despite sharing its BMA platform with the Binyue and X50, the 2026 Geely Cowboy gets a rear multi-link suspension config. The former gets a more rudimentary rear torsion beam design.
And just like the Proton X50, the 2026 Geely Cowboy gets the same turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder BHE15-EFZ petrol engine, producing 181 PS and 290 Nm, sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic (DCT).

Visually, the 2026 Geely Cowboy gets a rugged exterior with macho fender flares, tough-looking front and rear bumpers, as well as a roof rack with spot lights. Said roof rack isn’t just for looks – it can hold up to 50 kg worth of stuff. And like the Jetour T2, the Cowboy gets AT tyres all-round.

Inside, the updated 2026 Geely Cowboy gets a large 14.6-inch infotainment display with a 256-colour ambient lighting system. Said infotainment system runs on the Flyme Auto operating system.
In China, prices of the 2026 Geely Cowboy start from CNY 81,900 (~RM 48k) and tops out at CNY 90,900 (~RM 54k), but Geely is offering a limited-time launch promo that slashes the launch prices down to CNY 75,900 (~RM 45k) to CNY 84,900 (~RM50k). For context, the turbocharged Geely Binyue is priced between CNY 84,800 (~RM50k) to CNY 97,800 (~RM57k).
