The Honda Prelude is set to return in the near future after a 21-year hiatus. Over the past few years, Honda has been teasing the Civic-based coupe, and the company even displayed the model at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (2024 KLIMS).
Codenamed BF, Honda now offers a glimpse of the Prelude prototype’s interior. Considering that the Prelude is developed on the Civic FE’s platform, it comes as no surprise that the cabin bears resemblance to the C-segment sedan.
At the center of the dashboard is a free-standing infotainment display, positioned above a pair of air-conditioning vents—a slight departure from the Civic’s full-width vent design. Below the vents, physical air-conditioning control knobs are present, likely borrowed from the Civic.
One of the biggest differences between the Prelude and its sedan sibling is the center console. The traditional gear selector lever has been replaced with a centrally mounted push-button gear selector system, similar to the setup found in Japanese-market Civic Hybrids. Additionally, a new S+ button has been introduced, which simulates gear shifts when pressed.
Honda has also incorporated a blue-and-white interior color scheme, paying homage to the fourth-generation Prelude (BB4).
While Honda has remained tight-lipped on the powertrain details of the new Prelude, Andrew Quillin, a senior manager of public relations for American Honda Motor Company confirmed on X, stating “To clarify … Prelude Concept is hybrid-electric, not full BEV.”
This strongly suggests that the Honda Prelude will feature some form of Honda’s e:HEV hybrid powertrain, continuing the brand’s push toward electrified performance vehicles.
