
April 29, 2025 – Ferrari unveils the new special series model, the 296 Speciale, based on the 296 GTB launched in June 2021 – Ferrari’s first-ever production V6 sports car.

Inheriting the legacy of the Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia, 458 Speciale, and 488 Pista, the 296 Speciale features extensive upgrades over the base model – more power, reduced weight, and more aggressive aerodynamics.

At the international media launch held in Maranello, Italy, Ferrari unveiled the 296 Speciale in Verde Nürburgring and the open-top 296 Speciale A in Rosso Dino, featuring five-spoke forged wheels inspired by the F80. The 296 Speciale also comes with carbon fiber wheels.

Increase 50PS

Ferrari’s F163-coded 3.0L V6 Twin-Turbo engine gains 37 PS, reaching 700 PS — nearly matching the 710 PS from the 4.0L V8 in the 488 Pista. The electric motor also gets an additional 13 PS. In ‘Qualifying’ mode via eManettino, the electric motor delivers 180 PS, combining for a total system output of 880 PS.

Note: This extra Boost mode can be activated up to 14 times over two laps at Fiorano, or up to 15 times in a single lap at Mugello.

The hybrid system retains a 7.45 kWh battery, with an electric-only range of 25 km and a top speed of 135 km/h in eDrive mode.

Reduced 60kg

The 296 Speciale is 60 kg lighter than the 296 GTB, following a “weight-loss recipe” derived from the F80, 499P, and 296 GT3. Titanium con rods (-2.2 kg), reduced excess metal from the engine block (-1.9 kg), and lighter turbochargers (-1.2 kg) help trim 9 kg from the engine alone.

Inside, the cabin features one-piece carbon fiber door panels, a carbon center console and armrest, and lightweight Alcantara materials — while retaining the digital instrument panel and audio system.

+20% Downforces
Why is downforce important? On Special Series models, aerodynamic parts aren’t cosmetic — they let drivers go faster, corner harder, and apply throttle more confidently, especially in a car with 880 PS, 735 Nm, and 0–200 km/h in just 7.0 seconds.

Using aero-channeling technology inspired by the 296 Challenge, the 296 Speciale generates 435 kg of downforce at 250 km/h — 20% more than the 296 GTB. This helped the Speciale set a Fiorano lap time of 1:19, second only to the F80 and SF90 XX.

The Ferrari 296 Speciale will begin deliveries in Q1 2026, priced from €407,000. The open-top 296 Speciale A starts from €462,000, with deliveries beginning in Q2 2026.
