iCaur debuts in 2025 Auto Shanghai as iCar’s export brand, Malaysia to get iCaur 03 soon

At the ongoing 2025 Auto Shanghai, iCaur has made its global debut. iCaur is the export name for iCar, a collaboration between Chery and Smartmi Tech – the latter is part of Xiaomi’s supply partner. iCaur will be iCar’s export brand, while models sold in China will maintain the iCar branding.

As part of iCaur’s global expansion, the company plans to offer both battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and range-extended electric vehicles (REEVs), across a variety of body styles, including off-road capable models and tech-forward designs.

iCaur has big plans for its overseas expansion, as the company plans to enter more than 100 countries over the next three years and setting up more than 2,000 sales and service centres globally.

What is the iCaur V23?

The first model that will wear the iCaur branding is the V23, a battery electric vehicle (BEV) that’s manufactured by Chery. The iCaur V23 is developed on Chery’s i-MS platform and offers an all-wheel drive (AWD) or rear-wheel drive (RWD) layout.

The RWD variants of the V23 get a rear-mounted electric motor that does 100 kW (136 PS) and 180 Nm, while AWD variants add a front-mounted electric motor that outputs 55 kW (75 PS) and 112 Nm, allowing for a combined system output of 155 kW (211 PS) and 292 Nm.

Rear-wheel drive variants of the iCaur V23 get a 59.92-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack that offers a CLTC-rated range of 401 km, or a larger 81.76-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack with a 550 km range.

The more powerful AWD variants are only fitted with the NMC battery pack, which returns a 501 km range under the CLTC test cycle. The battery packs for the iCaur V23 are sourced from CATL.

While iCaur did not specify charging speeds of the V23, the company did say that it would take roughly 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC).

What about Malaysia?

Closer to home, iCaur is set to make its official debut at the upcoming 2025 Malaysia Autoshow (2025 MAS), with the iCaur 03 likely being the first model here, as seen in the Instagram post above.

What is the iCaur 03?

Like the V23 seen above, the 03 is also developed on the same i-MS platform, and can be had with a RWD or AWD configurations.

The RWD version of the 03 gets either a CATL-sourced 50.63-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, or a larger 65.69-kWh unit. The former offers a CLTC-rated range of 401 km, while the larger battery offers a range of up to 501 km, also under the CLTC test cycle. Said battery packs power a rear-mounted electric motor that does 135 kW (186 PS) and 220 Nm.

As for the AWD variants of the 03, these variants get the choice of a 65.69-kWh LFP battery pack or a 69.77-kWh LFP pack. Here, the AWD variants add a front-mounted electric motor that outputs 70 kW (95 PS) and 165 Nm, allowing for a combined system output of 205 kW (279 PS) and 385 Nm.

Like the iCaur V23, DC fast charging the iCaur 03 takes 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC).

Our down south neighbour, Singapore, currently offers one variant of the SUV, fitted with the larger 69.77-kWh battery pack that powers two electric motors. That said, the Singapore-spec model is called the Jaecoo J6, while ours will likely be called the iCaur 03. Watch this space for more updates.
