Chery Super Hybrid, or CSH in short, is Chery Malaysia’s upcoming Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) solution for the country, set to debut on the soon-to-be launched 2025 Chery Tiggo Cross CSH.

For the Malaysian market, Chery will be offering two variants of the Tiggo Cross – one with a turbocharged petrol engine, and another with the hybrid powertrain. The article will focus on the latter.

What makes the Chery Tiggo Cross CSH special?

At the heart of Chery’s CSH system is an Atkinson cycle, naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 102 PS and 125 Nm – hardly ground-breaking figures, but the key highlight is its impressive 44.5% thermal efficiency, ahead of Japanese rivals who boast a circa-40% thermal efficiency.

Said engine, codenamed G4G15B, is mated to Chery’s self-developed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT, specifically DHT150 in the Tiggo Cross CSH) that combines two electric motors that contributes 204 PS and 310 Nm. One motor is used for power generation, while the other drives the front wheels – powered by an on-board 1.83-kWh battery pack.

According to Chery, the DHT150 fitted to the Tiggo Cross CSH is an electronic CVT (eCVT). It enables the B-segment SUV to drive like an EV as the electric motor is the primary source of propulsion.

Moreover, the Chery Tiggo Cross CSH is able to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 9.6 seconds – an impressive figure for a vehicle that tips the scales at 1,565 kg.

The result of this is an impressive fuel consumption of 5.4-litre/100 km, allowing the Chery Tiggo Cross to boast a range of up to 1,000 km on a single tank of petrol. This is also aided by a 51 litre fuel tank – larger than most of its segment rivals.

Being the range-topping Tiggo Cross variant in Malaysia, the Tiggo Cross CSH is also expected to be filled to the brim in terms of features and equipment.

According to the official spec list, the Tiggo Cross CSH will be equipped with electric lumbar support for the driver seat, an additional far side centre airbag (bringing the total airbag count to seven), and more ADAS features. Compared to the regular petrol variant of the Tiggo Cross, the CSH variant adds Door Opening Warning (DOW), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Rear Cross Traffic Braking (RCTB), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Integrated Cruise Control (ICC), and Smart Vehicle Speed (ISA).

The Chery Tiggo Cross CSH very safe too, having earned the coveted 5-star safety rating from ANCAP – the Australasian New Car Assessment Program.

When the Chery Tiggo Cross CSH goes on sale in Malaysia, the Wuhu-based carmaker has indicated that estimated prices of the new SUV would be below the RM 100k mark. A local launch is set to take place in June, with CKD local assembly set to commence in July. Furthermore, the first 500 to book the Tiggo Cross are guaranteed delivery by 15 August 2025.
