Today marks a significant milestone in Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s (HMSB) history, as the company launched its first-ever electric vehicle (EV), the 2025 Honda e:N1.

Now that the launch is done and dusted, let’s take a look at the cost of maintenance of the new EV, and compare it to its closest priced sibling, the Honda HR-V.

How much does it cost to maintain a 2025 Honda e:N1?

According to the maintenance schedule posted on Honda Malaysia’s website, the first four services (up to 60,000 km or 36 months) are free, inclusive of parts and labour.

Owners of the Honda e:N1 are only expected to start paying for maintenance from the 48th month / 80,000 km mark onwards. At that mark, the service costs RM 1,038.28 and it includes replacing the transmission fluid, drain, and filler plug, dust and pollen filter, as well as inspecting the front and rear brakes.

Subsequently, at the 100,000 km / 60th month mark, the service is considerably cheaper, coming in at RM 226.94 as it only involves replacing the dust and pollen filter and inspection of the brakes.

The most expensive service for the Honda e:N1 comes at the 240,000 km / 144th month mark, as it is a major service that includes the transmission and fluid replacement, bringing the total amount to RM 1,194.38.

Overall, it would cost the owner of the Honda e:N1 a total of RM 4,944.78 over a period of 144 months (12 years) or 240,000 km.

To recap, HMSB has eight dealers across Malaysia that are properly equipped to service and maintain the Honda e:N1.

What about maintenance for the Honda HR-V?

For comparison, the Honda HR-V does not get the same free parts and labour like the e:N1; only alternate free labour till the 100,000-km/60-month mark.

Moreover, the HR-V’s cheapest service interval at RM 272.64 is still slightly more expensive than the e:N1 (RM 226.94).

All-in-all, it would cost the owner of a Honda HR-V e:HEV RS a total of RM 8,785.68 to maintain the B-segment SUV over a 10-year / 200,000-km period.
