MG Malaysia has confirmed the price of the 2025 MG S5 EV in Malaysia, roughly two weeks after previewing the model at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025. The new EV from MG is aimed squarely at the Proton eMas 7 and BYD Atto 3. Registration of interest (ROI) for the MG S5 EV was opened back in April.
Two variants of the 2025 MG S5 EV will be offered in Malaysia:
- Com 49-kWh: RM 115,900
- Com 62-kWh: RM 125,900
- Lux 62-kWh: RM 135,900
Additionally, the first 500 customers are entitled to an extra RM 6,000 discount, bringing the price down to RM 109,900 for the Com 49-kWh, RM 119,900 for the Com 62-kWh, and RM 129,900 for the top-spec Lux 62-kWh variant. There’s also a free 7-kW wallbox AC charger for eligible customers to further sweeten the deal.

The Com is the base variant and it offers two battery options – a 49-kWh or a 62-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. Under the WLTP test cycle, the former is able to do up to 340 km, while the latter offers up to 430 km.

Then there’s the Lux variant which is fitted exclusively with a 62-kWh LFP battery pack.

In terms of charging, the 2025 MG S5 EV supports up to 120 kW DC fast charging for the variant with the smaller 49-kWh battery pack, while variants with the larger 62-kWh battery pack support up to 150 kW DC fast charging. Charging from 10% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) takes roughly 24 minutes for the 49-kWh variant, while the 62-kWh variant takes 26 minutes.

Regardless of variant, the 2025 MG S5 EV features a rear-mounted electric motor (the S5 EV is the only one in its segment that’s RWD) that outputs 125 kW (170 PS) and 250 Nm. The 0-100 km/h sprint is completed in just 6.1 seconds.

Like the MG Cyberster and MG4, the MG S5 EV is developed on MG’s Modular Scalable Platform (MSP, also called Nebula in some markets). The MG S5 EV has a length of 4,476 mm, width of 1,849 mm and a height of 1,621 mm. The MG S5 EV’s wheelbase is 2,730 mm long.
The base Com variant kicks the feature list off with automatic LED headlights and LED tail lights, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The interior gets a 12.8-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, pumping audio through a 4-speaker sound system.
There’s also a single-zone automatic air-conditioning system, rear air-conditioning vents, three USB charging sockets, reverse camera, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Stepping up to the Lux variant adds niceties like larger 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, as well as combination leather and fabric upholstery. In addition to that, the Lux variant also adds power-adjustable driver seat, wireless charging pad, powered tailgate 360-degree camera, and heated steering wheel.

Safety is not compromised in the 2025 MG S5 EV, considering that both variants offer the MG Pilot ADAS suite that relies on a single 8-megapixel front camera and two milimeter-wave radars. Seven airbags are standard for both variants.

The MG Pilot ADAS kit on the 2025 MG S5 EV includes:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
- Blind Spot Detection (BSD)
- Lane Change Assist (LCA)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- Door Opening Warning (DOW)
- Drowsiness Monitor System (DMS)
- Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK)
- Forward Collision Warning (LCW)
- Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
- Rear Collision Warning (RCW)
- Traffic Jam Assist (TJA)
For the Malaysian market, MG Malaysia is offering the 2025 MG S5 EV across five body colours, namely Arctic While, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, Monument Silver, and Elegant Latte – the latter is exclusive for the Lux variant.

Similar to other MG EVs sold in Malaysia, the 2025 MG S5 EV is backed by MG Malaysia’s seven-year/150,000-km vehicle warranty and an eight-year/180,000-km high-voltage battery warranty.
