The newly launched 2025 MG S5 EV has achieved a full 5-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP crash tests, making it one of the safest electric SUVs in its class.

Under Euro NCAP’s updated 2025 testing protocols, the MG S5 EV scored:

  • 90% in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP)
  • 82% in Child Occupant Protection (COP)
  • 82% for Vulnerable Road Users
  • 78% in Safety Assist

One of the highest AOP scores under 2025 standards

According to Euro NCAP, the 90% AOP score is among the highest under its latest testing system. The organization noted that the passenger compartment of the MG S5 EV remained stable during the frontal offset crash test. Dummy readings showed good protection for both driver and passenger, and the airbags deployed effectively.

The 2025 MG S5 EV’s AOP score of 90% also puts it ahead of the Geely EX5, which scored 86%. Recall that the Geely EX5 is sold in Malaysia as the Proton eMas 7.

Solid protection for children, but lacks child detection system

The MG S5 EV also scored 82% in Child Occupant Protection. Euro NCAP reported adequate protection for the 10-year-old crash test dummy in both frontal and side impacts.

However, the vehicle does not include a child presence detection system, which is designed to detect if a child or infant is left inside the car—a feature becoming more common in premium EVs.

What Euro NCAP says about the MG S5 EV

Euro NCAP Programme Director Aled Williams praised MG’s efforts, “Congratulations to MG for a well-deserved five-star rating for the MG S5 EV. Euro NCAP continues to push manufacturers to strive for the highest levels of safety, and it is rewarding that MG have responded so positively, with excellent performance across all areas of occupant and partner protection.”

Now on sale in Malaysia from RM 115,900

  • Com 49-kWh: RM 115,900

With its five-star Euro NCAP rating, the MG S5 EV now has a strong case not just for performance and value, but also best-in-class safety — a compelling alternative to the Proton eMAS 7 and other electric SUVs in Malaysia.
