It appears that Proton is making strides with its recent models, as the soon-to-be launched all-new 2025 Proton X50 facelift will be the first model to launch with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2025 Proton X50 facelift gets a revamped infotainment system
Yes, this B-segment SUV is the first-ever Proton to debut with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – quite a big deal, given Proton’s track record. At the time of writing, the more upmarket and expensive eMas 7 has yet to receive the OTA update for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Support for both technologies are courtesy a brand-new infotainment system, which is now displayed on a massive 14.6-inch touchscreen.

Proton has stated that the new infotainment system features a quad core processor, backed by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. This marks a massive upgrade over the previous X50, which featured a dual core processor and a measly 2GB of RAM.
Said 14.6-inch display has a resolution of 1920×1080, and runs on the Android 10 operating system. Additionally, the new system also supports Bahasa Malaysia voice control –something which was promised long ago.

The new infotainment system also brings with it support for the newest Proton Link 2.0 app, allowing for remote vehicle functions to be accessed via your phone.

Other changes to the cabin include a completely revised dashboard, which sees the gear selector now repositioned to the steering column, thus allowing for a wireless charging pad to be incorporated on the driver side. This eMas 7-inspired cabin is as minimalist as it gets, as most controls have been moved to the head unit.

The row of physical buttons includes climate control (A/C on/off, auto climate control, and demister), as well as the hazard light.
Elsewhere, the all-new 2025 Proton X50 facelift gains a completely revised exterior and a brand-new turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.

Interested? Proton has opened its Registration of Interest (RoI) page, which is available here. Following which, we believe bookings for the model, as well as official launch should happen real soon.
