All-new 2025 Proton X50 Executive – This is all you really need

One week ago, Proton has officially launched the all-new 2025 Proton X50 facelift, and of the three available variants, the 2025 Proton X50 Executive may just be the sweet spot in the lineup.

Priced from RM 89,800 (on-the-road, without insurance), the new Executive variant replaces the previous entry-level Standard model. Surprisingly, despite dropping the base variant, the new entry price is RM 500 lower than last year’s Proton X50 Standard RC, while also RM 7,500 cheaper than the previous Executive RC variant.

2025 Proton X50 Executive offers more kit for less money

But despite the reduction in price, Proton has found a way (kudos to the team that did that) to improve kit count of the X50.

As standard, the 2025 Proton X50 Executive offers a comprehensive list of equipment, which includes:

Safety kit on the 2025 Proton X50 Executive gets a bump too

Impressively, Proton has addressed the lack of curtain airbags on the entry-level X50 – now all variants of the new X50 receive 6 airbags.

But wait, there’s more. While the previous X50 (Standard and Executive) variants lacked any form of ADAS, Proton has remedied that by offering Rear Side Radar System (RSRS) across the range, which adds these features:

No more MPI – It’s direct-injection for all

There’s also the powertrain – all variants of the new X50 now share the same turbocharged 1.5-litre 4-cylinder direct-injection petrol engine that does 181 PS and 290 Nm. There’s no differentiating between multi-point injection and direct injection models now. Likewise, the 7-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic has been carried over.

Why not get the Premium variant?

If you want the full ADAS suite, the Premium variant (RM101,800) adds:

The Proton X50 Premium costs an additional RM 12,000 over the Executive variant. For some buyers, the extra features may justify the price, but for most, the X50 Executive hits the sweet spot. With a significantly improved kit list and enhanced safety features, Proton has done a commendable job packing even more value into this variant.

If you’re shopping for a 2025 Proton X50, the Executive variant offers a well-balanced mix of performance, practicality, and price. It may not have the full ADAS suite, but at RM 89,800, it’s arguably the best value-for-money X50 you can buy today.
