Proton has finally launched the all-new 2025 Proton X50 in Malaysia. The updated and improved B-segment SUV comes roughly a month after the model was first previewed.
A total of three variants will be offered in Malaysia – Executive, Premium, and Flagship.

Prices start from RM 89,800 for the Executive variant, while the Premium variant goes for RM 101,800. As for the Flagship variant, it goes for RM 113,800. All prices are on-the-road, without insurance.
What’s new on the all-new 2025 Proton X50 facelift?

First and foremost – Proton has addressed one of the previous X50’s shortcomings – its 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine.
In this update exercise, Proton has replaced the 3-pot engine with a brand-new four-cylinder engine codenamed BHE15-EFZ.
This new engine outputs 181 PS at 5,500 rpm and 290 Nm of torque from 2,000 rpm to 3,500 rpm. This marks a 4 PS and 35 Nm increase over the older 3-pot engine.

That said, despite having one cylinder more than before, Proton claims that the new engine is 4.7% more fuel efficient than before, translating into a claimed fuel economy of roughly 6.1 L/100 km (down from 6.5 L/100 km).

The engine is paired to the tried-and-tested 7-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending drive to the front wheels.
With the increase in power and torque, Proton has claimed that the X50’s 0-100 km/h time has been improved by 0.3 seconds, down to 7.6 seconds.
And unlike the older model, all variants of the all-new 2025 Proton X50 facelift receive the same engine – there’s no more separation between variants (at least in terms of powertrain).

There’s also a refreshed exterior design. Out goes the LED projector headlights, as they have been replaced with slimmer and more aggressive looking LED reflector units.

The rear has also been revamped – there’s now a full-width LED tail light and reprofiled rear bumper. The Flagship variant also receives a spoiler with the S inscription.

A set of new alloy wheel design complete the exterior of the 2025 Proton X50 facelift – the Executive variant gets a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels, while the Premium and Flagship variants get a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels.

Stepping into the cabin, there’s now a Proton eMas 7-insipired dashboard – a commendable effort by the local guys.

The 2025 Proton X50 facelift is also the first Proton model to launch with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s no waiting period.
