2025 Proton Saga MC3: Could get new 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine, AT and CVT, bye-bye manual

New 2025 Proton Saga MC3 possible specs

As we inch closer towards the debut of the 2025 Proton Saga MC3, more details have begun emerging, and according to a post by leaker The Ajerul, it appears that powertrain details have emerged.

2025 Proton Saga MC3 bids farewell to the manual

According to The Ajerul’s Facebook post, the upcoming 2025 Proton Saga MC3 is slated to be offered across three variants – 1.5 AT Standard, 1.5 AT Executive, and 1.5 CVT Premium. The manual variant is no more.

While details remain scarce, it remains to be seen if the AT gearbox is the same Aisin using that the current Saga is using, or could Proton source for a new transmission. Also, it’s rather odd for Proton to offer a CVT specifically only for the top-spec Premium variant (could it be related to the ADAS kit?).

Then there’s the new 1.5L engine. Though there has been no official confirmation as yet, there is a possibility that the new 1.5L engine could be the naturally-aspirated version of the BHE15 found in the 2025 Proton X50. After all, it is only logical for Proton to slowly phase out the CamPro and move to more modern engines.

In its multi-point fuel injection configuration, the BHE15-PFI outputs up to 110 PS and 135 Nm – a healthy increase over the current car (95 PS & 120 Nm).

Additionally, we also reported earlier that the upcoming 2025 Saga MC3 would be the first Saga model to offer ADAS, as mentioned in an earlier press release.

Like all leaks, there is a chance that this document could be fabricated so details here should be taken with a grain of salt.
