It’s no secret that Proton is currently working on the next-generation Proton Saga – its core bread-and-butter model that has been largely unchanged since the third-generation model debuted back in 2016.
While the current Proton Saga has been around since 2016 with only facelifts and feature tweaks, the upcoming model, codenamed AMA01, will mark a significant generational leap, as well as spec bump.

Proton recently announced four new joint ventures and two technical collaborations with overseas suppliers. Hiding in plain sight was this particular line that caught our attention:
“As one of the top suppliers supplying the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) systems to OEMs in China such as Geely, Zeekr, Chery and Volvo, Imotion Automotive will help accelerate the development and adoption of ADAS systems for the AMA01. Its partner in Malaysia, Delloyd Technology, is a main supplier for multiple brands in the country and a longtime vendor to Proton.”

This pretty much confirms that ADAS features are coming to the next-gen Proton Saga AMA01, closing the tech gap with key rivals like the Perodua Bezza, which has had ADAS since its 2020 facelift, albeit only on the top-spec AV variant.
What is the Proton Saga AMA01?

Over the past few months, spyshots of camouflaged test units have emerged across Malaysia, including high-altitude test runs in Cameron Highlands.
When will Proton launch the Saga AMA01?
While there’s no official launch date yet, a recent leak by Funtasticko revealed what appears to be an internal presentation slide that hints at a Q4 2025 launch for the “Brand New SAGA”.
Interestingly, the same slide suggests that the all-new Proton X50 will launch first, followed by the AMA01 Saga.
