Chery International is China’s first manufacturer to exceed 5 million global exports

Chery International Group has become the first Chinese manufacturer to export more than 5 million vehicles worldwide, maintaining its top position in the passenger car exports for the past 22 years.

For the second consecutive year, Chery International Group emerged as the fastest-rising car manufacturer on both the ‘Fortune Global 500’ and ‘Fortune China 500’ lists in July 2025.

Chery International Group now ranks 233rd globally (up from 385th in 2024) and 59th in China (up from 100th in 2024).

Chery International exceeds 5 million global exports, driven by Omoda | Jaecoo

The main contributor to this achievement is Omoda | Jaecoo, which is present in 44 markets across ASEAN, Europe, Australia, and South America. In just over two years, Omoda | Jaecoo has accounted for 37% of Chery International’s total export volume, with cumulative global sales surpassing 570,000 units.

In Q1 2025, Omoda | Jaecoo’s New Energy Vehicles (NEVs, China’s term for electrified vehicles) accounted for 13,023 units, an increased from 2,325 units in Q1 2024 – a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 460%. Within the first half of 2025, NEVs accounted for 40% of Chery’s total exports.

Omoda | Jaecoo is also making waves in Europe, where the company is the first-ever Chinese brand to sell over 10,000 units in Spain within the first 11 months on the market.

Back home in Malaysia, Omoda | Jaecoo’s presence and popularity have grown steadily. The company has sold more than 17,000 units since the brand made its local debut in July 2024.

According to JPJ’s data, Omoda | Jaecoo has maintained its position among the top 5 automotive brands in Malaysia, also emerging as Malaysia’s most successful Chinese brand.

Omoda | Jaecoo has also reaffirmed that Malaysia will serve as its centralised right-hand drive (RHD) hub for the brand’s expanding global ambitions.
