2025 Mazda CX-80 launched in Malaysia: 3-row RWD premium SUV with 2.5G PHEV, priced from RM 330k

This is a pleasant surprise – Bermaz Motor Sdn Bhd has just launched the 2025 Mazda CX-80 alongside the brand-new 2025 Mazda CX-60.

As its name suggests, the fully-imported (CBU) 2025 Mazda CX-80 is positioned above the CX-60. The 2025 Mazda CX-80 is priced from RM 331,610.40 (on-the-road, without insurance). Depending on the market, the CX-80 also replaces the ageing Mazda CX-8.

Customers who booked the SUV can expect delivery starting mid-September 2025.It’s properly large, measuring 4,995 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,705 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm. For context, the Mazda CX-80 is 250 mm longer and 24 mm taller than the CX-60. That said, the 1,890 mm width is identical for both the CX-60 and CX-80.

What powertrain does the 2025 Mazda CX-80 get?

Similar to the CX-60, the larger CX-80 is powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre inline-four petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system. The petrol engine produces 192 PS and 261 Nm, while the electric motor contributes 175 PS and 270 Nm. The combined system output is 328 PS and 500 Nm.

A 17.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack powers the electric motor, providing a NEDC-rated EV range of 65 km. According to Mazda, the CX-80 PHEV can do 1.6 L/100 km under the WLTP test cycle.

The CX-80 supports up to 7.2 kW AC charging, which takes 2 hours and 30 minutes for a full charge. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, sending power to all four wheels via Mazda’s i-Activ AWD system.

What equipment does the 2025 Mazda CX-80 offer?

Starting with the exterior, the 2025 Mazda CX-80 offers automatic LED headlights with signature illumination, LED tail lights with signature illumination, panoramic sunroof with sliding and tilt glass, handsfree powered tailgate, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Stepping into the cabin and you’re greeted by tan Nappa leather seats, 10-way power-adjustable front seats (driver + passenger) and second-row captain seats with power reclining. There are also third-row seats with 50:50 split folding. Both the first- and second-row seats feature ventilation and heating function. As standard, the 2025 Mazda CX-80 also comes with Driver Personalisation System, which can save seat memory of different users when they drive the CX-80.

Then there’s the dual 12.3-inch displays. The first serves as a digital instrument cluster, while the second is the infotainment display, replete with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto support. Said infotainment system is hooked up to a 12-speaker Bose sound system. There are a total of 6 USB-C ports across the cabin.

  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
  • Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA)
  • Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

  • Driver Attention Alert (DAA) with Driver Monitoring
  • Smart Brake Support (SBS), front and rear
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Stop & Go
  • Cruising and Traffic Support (CTS)

Other highlights include eight airbags (front, side, curtain, driver knee), a 360-degree view monitor with see-through view, Kinematic Posture Control (KPC), and Off-Road Traction Assist.

Five body colours are offered: Jet Black, Melting Copper Metallic, Platinum Quartz, Rhodium White, and the new Artisan Red, which replaces Soul Red Crystal in the Malaysian lineup.

The 2025 Mazda CX-80 is covered by a 5-year/100,000-km manufacturer’s warranty and a 5-year/100,000-km free maintenance programme (whichever comes first). The high-voltage battery is covered by an 8-year/160,000-km warranty.
