Lexus has just unveiled the new 2026 Lexus IS, which now gets a sportier exterior and interior design compared to before. Don’t get too excited just yet, as the 2026 Lexus IS is still technically the third-generation model, albeit facelifted for the third time.
Sales of the new 2026 Lexus IS will start in early-2026.
Exterior – 2026 Lexus IS is even sportier than before
In this facelift exercise, Lexus has grafted on a reworked front fascia on the 2026 Lexus IS with a wide, low-slung spindle grille that accentuates the car’s aggressive stance. Said spindle grille gets a more refined design compared to the previous 2020 facelift exercise.
Towards the rear, the Lexus emblem has been replaced with the LEXUS script emblazoned across, tying the compact sports sedan in-line with the recently-debuted 2026 Lexus ES.
As for the F Sport variant, it gains a redesigned rear spoiler for improved aerodynamics, new lightweight 19-inch wheels, and optional red Brembo brake calipers. Lexus also added a new shade called Neutrino Gray to its palette of eight colour options.

Interior – Driver-focused cabin gets updated tech
The cabin of the 2026 Lexus IS continues to be based on Lexus’ human-centric “Tazuna Concept”, but now with the addition of dual displays: a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, strategically angled for visibility and usability.
Interior highlights include a new “Forged Bamboo” trim and a vivid “Prominence” colour option exclusive to F SPORT models.
As standard, the 2026 Lexus IS comes fitted with a 10-speaker Lexus Premium Sound system, but customers can opt for a more upmarket 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system. There are two USB-C charging ports located at the front of the centre console, and anther 2 more USB-C ports at the rear of the centre console for added convenience.

Performance and handling – Three options at launch, with improved handling
The updated 2026 Lexus IS offers two powertrains at launch:
- IS 300h: RWD + CVT
- IS 350: RWD + 8AT or AWD + 6AT
A rack-parallel electric power steering (EPS) with the adoption of a variable gear ratio (VGR) and linear solenoid-type adaptive variable suspension (AVS) now deliver sharper steering feel and dynamic stability, reducing road jolts even in challenging conditions.
Safety – 2026 Lexus IS can offer hands-off driving
Building on the Lexus Safety System+, the 2026 Lexus IS now includes Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) for automated steering deceleration and advanced Pre-Collision System (PCS) coverage, including detection of motorcycles and at intersections.
The refreshed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Road Sign Assist (RSA) offer broader detection and voice alert capabilities. The optional Advanced Drive (Lexus Teammate) offers hands-off support in congested traffic.
