2025 Mercedes-Benz S580e PHEV updated in Malaysia, priced from RM 739k

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has updated the locally-assembled (CKD) 202 Mercedes-Benz S580e plug-in hybrid (PHEV), introducing faster charging, rear-axle steering, and upgraded comfort features.

The update flagship sedan is priced from RM 738,888, on-the-road at without insurance.

The most significant technical upgrade is the introduction of 60 kW DC fast charging. This allows the high-voltage battery to charge from 10% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) in approximately 20 minutes, a major improvement for daily usability.

Then there’s rear-axle steering of up to 4.5 degrees, which now comes as standard. Rear-axle steering improves maneuverability in tight spaces and stability at high speeds.

Exterior updates are marked by new 20-inch 10-twin-spoke forged wheels.

Inside, the cabin receives a new center console with a black dotted-line, crystal-look finish. Comfort is further enhanced with three-stage ventilated and heated front seats.

The sedan also features Energizing Air Control, an advanced system that monitors air quality and can automatically switch to recirculation mode if exterior pollutants like nitrogen oxides or fine particles are detected.

What’s unchanged is the S580e’s powertrain. Powering this flagship luxury sedan is a petrol-electric hybrid system, comprising of a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine that does 367 PS and 500 Nm of torque, hooked up to a 9-speed automatic transmission that houses an electric motor that contributes another 150 PS and 440 Nm. The combined system output of the Mercedes-Benz S580e is 510 PS and 750 Nm.

Assembled at Mercedes-Benz’s plant in Pekan, Pahang, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S580e includes an 8-year/160,000 km warranty for its high-voltage battery.
