Proton’s Kota Kinabalu RPC stocks up for 2025 Proton X50, minimal waiting

Proton is further strengthening its after-sales capabilities in Sabah with its Regional Parts Centre (RPC) in Kota Kinabalu, as a sign of commitment to its growing customer base in East Malaysia.

The RPC in Kota Kinabalu is the logistic backbone for Proton in East Malaysia, as it is able to deliver urgent service parts to dealers in as little as 1 day, with routine stock replenishment fulfilled within2 days.

Regional Parts Centre Kota Kinabalu was established last year and it spans across 28,000 square feet, handling an average of 15 to 20 containers a month and has the capacity to unload up to 6 containers simultaneously. The Kota Kinabalu RPC maintains a minimum of three-and-a-half months’ worth of stock. If necessary, the RPC is also able to receive direct imports.

East Malaysia has contributed 20.6% of Proton’s nationwide sales in 2025, underscoring its importance to overall performance. Year-to-date (YTD) growth in East Malaysia was driven by:

  • Proton Saga: 15,328 units
  • Proton Persona: 2,496 units
  • Proton X50: 1,649 units

To continue this momentum, Proton continues to implement the Proton Operational Excellence (POE) programme across Sabah. POE sets measurable standards for service processes, technical competency, stock control and customer experience. Dealerships are reviewed monthly, with performance shared transparently to encourage improvement and healthy competition. Top-performing outlets are recognised through the 5-Star Dealer Award and quarterly knowledge-sharing roadshows to spread best practices.

Sabah remains one of Proton’s most important growth markets in East Malaysia. Our Kota Kinabalu parts hub has the capability to fulfil up to 6,000 dealer orders monthly, helping to ensure fast and dependable service for our customers,” said Mr. Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar.

“Our goal is to give every Proton owner confidence that support is always accessible and efficient. Reaffirming the strength of our parts and service network reflects our commitment to delivering excellent customer experiences as our presence continues to grow in East Malaysia,” Mr. Zhang added.
