All-new 2026 Proton Saga unmasked: More upmarket cabin, new i-GT engine

2026 Proton Saga at the ASEAN Summit

At the ongoing ASEAN Summit 2025, it appears that Proton has displayed not one, but two upcoming models: the 2026 Proton eMas 5 and the 2026 Proton Saga.

Despite still wearing some camouflage, much of the upcoming 2026 Proton Saga has been revealed through these photos, including the front and rear fascia, as well as a good look at the redesigned cabin.

Up front, it appears that the all-new 2026 Saga will get projector headlights, though it remains to be seen if it’ll be halogen or LED units. Towards the rear is a new and sleek full-width LED tail light that gives the Saga a more modern look. The i-GT emblem on the boot hints at the all-new engine that’s powering the 2026 Saga.

Crucially, Proton has given the 2026 Saga a completely updated cabin, one that features dual digital displays like the eMas 5 and eMas 7. There’s also an engine push start button, a shift lever boot, and leather-wrapped steering wheel – the latter looks to feature some telephony controls and likely controls for the digital instrument cluster.

Elsewhere, it also appears that there are finally new signal and wiper stalks and a new ice blue illumination for the various buttons and controls.

As implied by the i-GT emblem, the new 2026 Saga ditches the long-serving naturally-aspirated 1.3-litre CamPro engine in favour of a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit, likely the naturally-aspirated version of the BHE15 found in the 2025 Proton X50.

In its multi-point fuel injection configuration, the BHE15-PFI outputs up to 110 PS and 135 Nm – a healthy increase over the current car (95 PS & 120 Nm).

Excited yet?
