2026 Ferrari 296 Speciale launched in Malaysia: Ultimate V6 Special Series priced from RM 4.288 million

Less than year since the 2026 Ferrari 296 Speciale made its global debut, the ultimate V6 Special Series has finally landed in Malaysia, thanks to official importer and distributor Ital Auto.

Priced from RM 4.288 million (inclusive of import duties, excluding insurance, options, and registration), the 2026 Ferrari 296 Speciale is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 engine, codenamed F163, that outputs 700 PS and 755 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Said engine is paired to an electric motor that’s sandwiched between the engine and 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, contributing another 180 PS, bringing the total system output to 880 PS.

That’s 50 PS more than the 296 GTB, making the 296 Speciale the most powerful rear-wheel drive (RWD) Ferrari has ever manufactured. The 0-100 km/h sprint is completed in just 2.8 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 7.0 seconds, and top speed is rated at 330 km/h.

The 7.45-kWh battery allows the 2026 Ferrari 296 Speciale to travel up to 25 km in pure electric mode.

Compared to the 296 GTB, the 296 Speciale is 60 kg lighter, thanks to extensive use of carbon fibre and titanium throughout the chassis and engine. As such, the 2026 Ferrari 296 Speciale tips the scales at just 1,410 kg (dry weight).

The bodywork was sculptured under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, which adds more track-bred styling cues compared to the 296 GTB. The front-end features a deeply scalloped bonnet and a suspended splitter that seems to float between the air intakes. The rear gets the biggest transformation, with vertical fins and new side wings inspired by the 296 Challenge race car. These work with the active rear spoiler to generate 435 kg of downforce at 250 km/h – 20% more than the 296 GTB.

There’s also a new Medium Downforce mode, sandwiched between the existing Low and High settings, designed to stabilise the rear-end at high speeds without cutting top-end performance. Even the aero damper concept, borrowed from Ferrari’s race cars, channels air through the front bonnet to stabilise downforce under braking.

Speaking of aerodynamics, the underbody of the 296 Speciale gets wider front diffusers and redesigned vortex generators, while the rear diffuser works more efficiently with the active spoiler to control airflow.

Braking cooling capacity has also doubled compared to the 296 GTB, with redesigned front ducts channeling air directly to the front calipers, while new deflectors under the suspension arms cool the brakes under constant hard stop, crucial for the 296 Speciale as it can brake from 200 km/h to zero in just 106 meters.

Ferrari hasn’t forgotten about the soundtrack. The 296 Speciale refines the 296 GTB’s distinctive V6 acoustics into something louder, cleaner, and more mechanical. New acoustic ducts channel the engine’s higher-frequency harmonics straight into the cabin, while a less restrictive and free-flowing exhaust layout adds a sharper, more metallic edge at high rpm.

Being a Speciale also meant that handling has been uprated – the new suspension geometry and Multimatic single-rate dampers (which are adopted from the 296 GT3) reduce roll by 13% while improving precision at the limit. Additionally, spring stiffness has also been increased, and ride height is 5 mm lower than the 296 GTB.

Stepping into the cockpit of the 296 Speciale and it continues Ferrari’s design philosophy of digital minimalism – carbon fibre is aplenty and Alcantara replaces most of the soft touch trim.

The door panels feature a single carbon fibre mould with integrated speaker perforations, and the classic Ferrari shift gate selector remains as a scultural centrepiece, now finished in exposed metal in the raised centre console.

As before, drive modes are selectable via the eManettino switch on the steering wheel: eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify, with the last unlocking the full might of the Extra Boost function.

A new Verde Nürburgring colour option debuts on the Speciale, paired with optional twin racing stripes that run the full length of the car. Customers can also add custom racing numbers, giving the car the kind of track-ready aesthetic that perfectly matches its performance intent.

For those wanting something even more exclusive, there’s the 2026 Ferrari 296 Speciale A, priced from RM 4.888 million (inclusive of import duties, excluding registration, options, and insurance).
