Watch: Proton eMas 5 Price Reveal

Overview

With prices starting from RM 56,800 for the Prime variant and RM 69,800 for the Premium variant, the 2026 Proton eMas 5 is currently Proton’s (and at the time of writing, Malaysia’s) most affordable EV. These prices are inclusive of a RM 3,000 rebate, valid till 31-December 2025. These prices are on-the-road, excluding insurance.

As reported earlier, the 2026 Proton eMas 5 is based on the Geely Xingyuan, sharing almost every bit with the Geely model, including the overall design, wheels, interior (albeit switched to right-hand drive), and powertrains.

The key differentiator are the Proton roundel up front, Proton emblems on the wheel caps, as well as the Proton script and “e.Mas 5” emblem on the tailgate.

Exterior

Think of the Proton eMas 5 as a cuter, more rounded version of the larger eMas 7. Soft curves dominate the exterior of the eMas 5, giving the model a ‘cutesy’ look.

In terms of dimensions, the eMas 5 measures 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm wide, and 1,580 mm tall, with a wheelbase that’s 2,650 mm long.

Colour options include Moonstone White, Graphite Silver, Slate Grey, Marble Cream, and Quartz Rose – the latter two are exclusive to the Premium variant.

Interior

Similar to the larger eMas 7, the eMas 5’s interior is minimalist – a large 14.6-inch infotainment display takes centerstage, followed by a smaller 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.

Said infotainment system runs on the Atlas Auto operating system, and has support for both English and Bahasa Malaysia languages. In-line with recently-launched Proton models, support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is baked right in; there’s no OTA to wait for.

Pro-Net also highlighted that the eMas 5 gets a crystal gear selector – a feature that’s exclusive in its class. Other exclusive features include a two-tone leatherette steering wheel, 28-lite rear under-seat storage compartment, powered tailgate, and integrated live charging map.

Customers can also pick between two interior colours:

  • Alabaster White (Only available on Marble Cream and Quartz Rose)
  • Flint Grey (Only available on Moonstone White, Graphite Silver, and Slate Grey)

Powertrain

Regardless of variant, the 2026 Proton eMas 5 gets a single rear-mounted electric motor.

The Prime variant outputs 58 kW (79 PS) and 130 Nm of torque. The 30.12-kWh CATL-sourced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack is good for a WLTP range of 225 km.

As for the Premium variant, the rear electric motor does 85 kW (116 PS) and 150 Nm, juiced by a larger 40.16-kWh CATL-sourced LFP battery pack. The larger battery pack also returns more range, in this case, a WLTP range of 325 km.

In terms of charging, the Premium variant accepts up to 71 kW of DC fast charging, and all variants take 21 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC). AC charging is capped at 6.6 kW.
