Following a recent spyshot of the Proton S70 MC, it seems like at the same time, Proton is also busy road-testing the upcoming Proton X90 MC. These photos were recently updated to the paultan.org Automotive/Car Discussion Group by user Barli Ice.
Similar to the recently-updated Proton X50, the Proton X90 MC will likely adopt the the newer 1.5-litre four-cylinder BHE15-EFZ and drop the three-pot 1.5-litre mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrain.

Currently, the Proton X90 outputs 177 PS and 255 Nm from its three-pot engine, supplemented by the mild-hybrid system that contributed another 13 PS and 45 Nm, bringing the total system output to 190 PS and 300 Nm.

With the new BHE15-EFZ in place, the X90 MC will likely offer 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque. It remains to be seen if the X90 MC will continue to offer a MHEV system moving forwards.

What remains unchanged should be the transmission – the 7-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic should be the same as before.
Apart from the updated powertrain, the X90 MC could also feature an improved infotainment system, one that offers support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto right of the box, mirroring the X50 and Saga.
